    Pros

I was a great first job. Had an amazing group of co-workers and the manager for the Women's Department was the best.

    Cons

The customers in the area had a short-temper, but also company policies that forced workers to hawk down store credit cards and charity donations (round-ups) and online orders, rather than helping solve the customer issues.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

love to work there, more because when i got to the store i have special discounts, due to the fact that i am employee.

    Cons

There is 2 cons i have from be working in JCP, i started working at 5 am and is duficult form to wake up at 4 am to get ready, also since i have a college education, i expect more money, and at JCP when i am earning is the minimum, 10dlrs per hour.

    Advice to Management

My supervisor, Pina, she is very nice person, very accessible when i needed her, can't say anything bad about her.

I have been working at J. C. Penney (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The discounts are really great!

    Cons

I have been working there for over a year and put lots of work into the job but I was still only getting $7.50. The newly hired associates were getting $8.50 or even $9.00 so I asked for a raise and they said they could not do anything about it so I put in my two weeks.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your associates. No one shows any appreciation anymore and no one wants to work at a place who doesn't care about their employees.

    I worked at J. C. Penney part-time

    Pros

If you like JCP brands, you get 1st dibs. Teaches you how to address Customer Service like a pro! Friendly co-workers who are like family. Recognitions for your hard work. Promotions within the company.

    Cons

Constant changes to policies that are difficult to keep up with (everyday, no joke) because of CEO switches and re-organization. Low pay. Company lacked in pay raises. Minimum of 4 hours PER WEEK! Required to say "yes" even if it means breaking policy.

    Advice to Management

    Better Communication.

I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large group of fun coworkers, flexible hours

    Cons

Not a place for full-time employment: Low hourly wages, can't get full-time hours, constant pressure to make customers apply for a credit card, no commissions, 15-cent raises once a year, slow cash registers

    Advice to Management

Give more hours to those who want them. Reward the great employees with better wages.

    Pros

Every here is happy. If you are looking for a tenured job, this is the place to be.

    Cons

Old school. Not open to new ideas. Stuck in old ways. There is a certain culture here so you may feel as though you do not fit in.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture, dress code, pay, location, career advancement opportunities, bonus structure, decent benefits, vacation time

    Cons

jcp is about 20 years behind when it comes to their systems and reporting. I thought previous companies were bad until I came to JCP. Promotions are based solely on who you know not what you know. Be prepared to network your life away to further your career. You'll also find more people in management in meetings all day than the people actually doing the work. No clear job descriptions.
