Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at your store level management on day to day operations. You will notice that not everyone is given office time when needed. It's the same people always out on the floor, same people always in the office. The schedule is never fair. Its the same people closing several nights a week and the same people always opening. Or certain people always closing weekends.
Pros
Atmosphere is amazing, people are incredible, a great way to learn a lot about fashion and to meet new friends - both within and outside the company, Associate discounts are quite nice as well.
Cons
Pay is terrible, no joke! For the amount of work we do and all hours we put in, I'd love to start getting paid more! Retail hours are terrible in general - so that's a nobrainer. Upper levels prefer to overlook a lot that goes on within certain stores, even after hearing a lot of complaints from employees and receiving many emails and calls through open talk. Some managers are unmanageable themselves, if not to say more: it is, unfortunately, a proven fact at this point, yet seniors choose not to do anything about it.
Advice to Senior Management
Start hearing us out, really listening to us, caring about us and doing something to improve certain situations. Once you do that, we will be way happier and happy employees are a key to successful business ventures!
Pros
1) Discount 2) People 3) Benefits
Cons
1) Long Hours 2) Poor Working Conditions 3) Poor Communications
Advice to Senior Management
Need to detail job description more thoroughly
Pros
Great discount when I worked there, meet diverse group of people and the visual merchandising can be fun at times
Cons
Poor management, too high turnover, hard to get into corporate position, horrible hours.
Advice to Senior Management
train and retain quality people with a competitive salaries
Pros
The associate discount is remarkable, the opportunities are pretty good if I were to continue working there. The consideration for employees needs is wonderful.
Cons
The on-call slots can be inconvenient with an already busy schedule and sometimes the constant go go without a minute to rest can be wearing.
Advice to Senior Management
As far as leadership goes I think for the most part, every trys their best to create a sense of equality and fairness that is amicable in the workplace.
Pros
Fast pace, time flies when you're on the floor. Employee perks.
Cons
Mall hours can be a pain
Pros
I like the work environment and the other associates and sales support as well as management are all quality people. The quality of the clothing is excellent and I love that the main focus is creating an experience for our customers that reflects J. Crew as a company.
Cons
Sometimes the on call system is a little frustrating when trying to plan or schedule things. There are also times when business is pretty slow, but that's common in retail.
Advice to Senior Management
Just keep sales associates and sales support up to date with expectations and also with things that corporate wants to emphasize. Encouragement is also a plus!
Pros
The pay is really great! Competitive pay if you choose. Super friendly, relaxed environment. The Management team is very fair and understanding. A outstanding employee discount!
Cons
Not always busy with customers, sometimes gets slow. Clothes can be pretty expensive. Every now and then, on call shifts are given.
Advice to Senior Management
