Pros
The job allows you to work with clothes and people, two things I like. The discounts and benefits are amazing. The hours are good and the management was nice to work with.
Cons
Retail as a whole can be boring. Closing the store can be tedious, but necessary work. It was not J.Crew, but retail as a whole, that bothered me some.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to hire just enough people instead of too many people. It can be frustrating to get hired to work some where, but never get any hours.
Pros
Flexible hours, higher starting pay than most retail positions, discount is great, very easy job
Cons
very little opportunity to move up within the company, no commission on regular sales, corporate took away commission on new credit card applications
Pros
All of the different people you meet and make strong bonds with.
Yes, it's work, but it's fun to work.
Cons
It's a little competitive which can get stressful at times.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't think our store needs leadership advice because they are just so comforting and encouraging.
Pros
Fair break times, good hours, works with people's availability, nice clothes with benefits.
Cons
Standing and folding a lot, staying late nights for roll out.
Advice to Senior Management
Should start rewarding employees who make a lot of sales.
Pros
Great discounts, laid back workplace and colleagues who are passionate and fun to work with at the same time. The shifts are not also very long.
Cons
The customers can be very annoying. They try and tell you something is wrong when absolutely nothing is wrong especially when they cannot return certain items.
Advice to Senior Management
I think that some things they do are very good in creating a better company. However, I do not like how they have us focus on different things at different parts of the year.
Pros
Employee Discounts
Incentives
The environment
Competitive Pay
Cons
Only have Christmas Off
Training is long and exhausting
Advice to Senior Management
Well I only just started working their.. I work a night shift and I love it so far
I wish when I have to work my 8 hour shifts on the weekends it could have been morning instead of night because of school that would have been nice to choose from
Overall y'all are great... I suppose I have to wait to see if I truly like it or not
Pros
Good team working environment at the location.
Cons
Managerial issues with in the company structure and how it handles some company wide issues and policies.
Pros
The people that we meet every day.
Cons
Everything we get in shipment comes in plastic bags. Never get a run of items, always the same sizes sent. Not all customers are a 0 or 2 and they get upset when we don't have item. Wish our registers could keep up with what it sold and send item to replace, not stuff we have enough of.
Advice to Senior Management
Let us know if we are doing a good job. Work with us more. Explain the way J. Crew would like things done better. I know sales people come and go and it makes it hard to keep up with what was said to who.
Pros
The products are definitely above standard, it is clean professional look, very good discounts. J Crew partners with some very reputable brands such as Alden, Redwings and Filson to provide a wide range of apparel that can fit any individuals style. The hours working there are very flexible and works well if you just a little spending cash.
Cons
As with any retail job, it is sales driven, and when sales are not so good, scheduling isnt as good. The stress of the customers can sometimes get to workers. It is a very competitive work scene so be prepared to hustle and maintain it at a high level
Advice to Senior Management
Show more appreciation to all members of the team. Compensating only personal shoppers gives them a sense of unfair entitlement
Pros
Awesome discounts on merchandise (50% off sale items, 30%-50% off regular priced items)
Employee sales contests
Fun co-workers
Laid back atmosphere
Cons
Being on call some days makes it hard to make other plans
Low hourly wage
Seems difficult to get an increased salary wage
Advice to Senior Management
Find a way to make sure the same employees don't keep winning contests so that everyone gets a nice perk once in a while.
