I worked at J. Crew full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good vacation time even for new hires.
    Good benefits
Corporate office is a good location in New York City. Good discount on clothes.

    Cons

Vacation time and sick time are rolled in to one, so usually end up losing time because you need to save time for sick days. People working there can be immature and "don't read books, only magazines"

I have been working at J. Crew

    Pros

The people are great, sometimes your schedule is great for retail.

    Cons

There is no growth from with in , I've worked for J.Crew more then 10 years and I am not where I should be money wise or rank, sadly in this company is based on looks and who can kiss more backside, not on merit or experience . It would be wise to apply to a high rank position if your new to J.Crew, but don't expect a fast promotion to go up the latter that's a 10 to 15 yr investment. Also a outsider will make more money then a person who has been promoted from with in and how fair is that when you already know all the systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is so many people stuck in roles that can out perform the people are running the show but because they don't fit your mold of what you think is fit to do the job, is really hurting your company.

I have been working at J. Crew full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

great corporate discount, essentially no dresscode, valuable interactions with VP's and CEO. Good insight to the industry and quality standards. Substantial PTO allotted

    Cons

Takes a very long time to climb the corporate ladder - promotions are based on time spent vs. merit/proven ability, and don't occur frequently. No bonuses, low beginning salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Biggest issue most current employees have is the disparity between work put in and compensation given
