Pros
Discount!!!! The discount was hands down the best part of working at jcrew. They obviously put a large emPhasis on what you look like
Cons
Sometimes you could scheduled for inventory or rollout from 11pm to 5am. Only some people were required to attend these
Pros
Opportunity, support, experience, good team environment.
Cons
Limited hours, lower payment, limited positions in company.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up
Pros
Great benefits, amazing discounts, flexible with your schedule, A lot of informative information about the company and products, Usually coworkers are alway friendly.
Cons
Had a wonderful manager, until he left and gave the position to a terrible man. Being promoted within was based on friendships, unfriendly, found reasons to get you in trouble. experience in that area all depends on your manager.
Advice to Senior Management
Give more direction when it comes to selling the J. Crew card. Help with selling techniques and giving details about products.
Pros
good after school/college job. the people that have worked in the company for awhile know have a system with how to run the store
Cons
not enough hours, not very good management, better working chemistry. the employees have a hard time getting along with new hires and with management.
Advice to Senior Management
management has to be more aware of how the employees feel. even though they are conscious of the environment they created, most of the employees at our store are not content with how the store is run.
Pros
The people are generally good at what they do. People are especially intelligent and some of the best in the industry. You're likely to look good at the end of the day.
Cons
The culture is full of whispers and gossip (then again, so is the industry). The pay is among the worst in the industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a team atmosphere where people actually enjoy working together instead of defending themselves and their work. More emphasis placed on team-building would likely lower the turnover, gossip, and self-interest. More competitive pay would also keep everyone around a lot longer.
Pros
Some of the best reasons for working at J.Crew are the discount you get on the clothing, the pay is decent, and everyone is relatively friendly and easy to get along with.
Cons
Retail can be a very political game. Sometimes the management choices were ones a lot of the workers did not agree with but somehow went through. Managers with little to no education on human resource management or management tactics.
Advice to Senior Management
People do not want to work somewhere that they cannot grow. After working at this location on and off for around two years I was never offered a raise or a promotion within the company. This seems a bit weird to me.
Pros
discount is great, nice atmosphere,
Cons
hours cut after Christmas and agin in the summer
Pros
Camaraderie among coworkers, minimal stress, discount, pleasant work environment
Cons
Modest pay, strict/stifling dress-code, little room for upward movement, erratic schedule interferes with overall quality of life
Pros
Down to earth leaders, friendly environment, room for growth, incentives, stable job, training, great co-workers, flexible schedule, variety of shifts to choose from to work with your busy life, open door policy (sups and managers are open to any suggestions and feedback) company open for suggestions to better the company, CEO is down to earth and knows what he's talking about.
Cons
Long hours during the holidays (expected), tedious work at times, redundant work (at times), calming down angry customers (at least 1 every 30 calls), constant phone calls.
Pros
Great clothes, great employee discount.
Cons
Terrible hourly rate, weak incentives, and little room for growth. More appropriate place to work if you're 18-21 and looking for part-time work.
