    Pros

Good Pay and incentives Generous Discount Job growth opportunity in the company Friendly coworkers and Management Relaxed atmosphere Plenty of training offered

    Cons

Scheduling is done through an app which wasn't always reliable. Floor set hours can get to be very long/late. Redundant work on busy days (as with any retailer) Need lots of experience in order to move up in the company

    Advice to Management

Treat each of your associates as individuals.

    Pros

Fun and flexible place to work. Discounts are awesome!

    Cons

Some of the customers are too crazy. They can sometimes ruin your day just because you didn't want to give them their request.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people that actually like the place. Some people just aren't cut out for some things.

    Pros

In comparison to other retail companies that i have worked for in the past, J Crew outshines them all when it comes to the type of people they hire, the tone they set in the work place, and the relationships they build between coworkers. There's always opportunities available, even the smallest associate has access to people in higher positions. Even part timers get benefits too!

    Cons

Strict dress code, low hours available, standards in the merchandising is very tedious.

    Pros

Great discount and sales benefits. Genuine concern from company for excellent customer service. Merchandise is quality, so it was easy to sell.

    Cons

Can be hard to meet sales goals at smaller stores that lack higher end products. Environment amongst sales staff can be competitive in a negative way.

    Advice to Management

Reward people who hustle. Create a system that is not honor based for tracking associate sales. Carry petites and bathing suits in more stores.

    Pros

This is a great job for a college student. The schedule is flexible to accommodate changing class schedules, and you can do your school work during down times. Benefits are great (arguably the best in Lynchburg, VA), employee discounts are awesome and you get a lot of PTO. This is an ideal position for someone who is simply looking for an income to pay bills. I was on the Email/Chat team where we could listen to music as we worked. Basically, J.Crew puts a lot of emphasis on customer service, so CSRs get a lot of perks.

    Cons

Lots of favoritism and job politics. It's hard to get ahead if a member of management simply does not like you. Also, it's required that you work one day of the weekend, Saturday or Sunday.

    Advice to Management

Make sure management is accountable, to get rid of favoritism.
