I worked at J. Crew part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I really liked working here because you get commission for your sales. The managers are very kind and loving, the work environment didn't really feel like work. It felt like you're in a room full of family.

    Cons

    The hours were very little

I have been working at J. Crew

    Pros

Solid employee discount: 35% off of full price items, 50% off of mark downs, and a changing list of items for 60+% off.

    Cons

Getting scheduled was a hassle. Store directors are given an allocation of hours available to schedule every week, and the management takes up most of them.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at J. Crew part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team at the time I was there which made working in retail much more enjoyable. My manager was also great and was very fair in her treatment of our team. She also very clearly knew how to do her job well and that reflected in the organization of the team and the store processes.

    Cons

I noticed that in between seasons we went through periods of time where the store looked very empty as we waited for the next roll out. I'm wondering if that has to do with the fact that it was a factory store, but it didn't look great for prospective customers walking in the door.

  10. Was doing stock

I worked at J. Crew part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good reasons to work here because the store hours for both employees and customers are fair. They close relatively early. The employees get paid weekly.

    Cons

Challenges of working here was having to work and lift boxes in a button down shirt and tie even though you were a stock boy and not a sales person on the floor. Not much to really do in a small stock room. J crew located at soho. Trying to write people up for wearing no button down shirt and tie on the job even though manager said it was okay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management in the j crew in soho needs to be more professional and not use so much profanity around the employees. Try to set a good example.

    Pros

This is an amazing company. Everyone is down to earth as far as coworkers and carry themselves professionally.. Management was real nice as well.

    Cons

Not enough hours especially depending on location. Got to a point where u got about 4 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just better time management and scheduling would be great
