I worked at J.M. Huber full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, 8 hr work day

    Cons

Plant refused to fix anything, until it actually would create a near miss. engineers were treated like spreadsheet jockeys doing mostly accounting work. Manager had a disdain for operators unparalleled of anyone I've seen, but was not self aware about it. Everyone was lazy except for operators; they were holding the place together with glue and toothpicks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix equipment. Don't treat people like garbage if they don't have a degree. Hire people who aren't lazy.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at J.M. Huber

    Pros

Used to have excellent pay and benefits. Small size allowed for exposure to many areas. Senior management used to be accessible and interested in new ideas.

    Cons

Just a job, no excitement. Pay is average to below average, benefits are below average. Advancement very political and not merit based.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage employees, there are good ideas that could make the company profitable.

    Former Employee - Research Technician

    I worked at J.M. Huber full-time

    Pros

The benefits and compensation were great. They focused on safety and I never felt like I was going to have to worry about retribution if I brought a safety concern up.

    Cons

Felt like time was wasted with busy work rather than being allowed to do research, projects were limited. There wasn't a lot of room for moving up, the only hope was if someone retired and caused an opening. I never felt like there was room to present new projects for development. Culture was very rigid concerning telecommuting or flextime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better training, support your staff with staff development. Upper management was approachable but in different divisions it was hard to get the support from middle management that was needed on a day to day basis.

    Pros

Salary, benefits, people, job responsibilities, supervisor, working environment, profit sharing, field says I need twenty words but this is the maximum I can come up with.

    Cons

Location, driving distance to work, stab you in the back attitude, Human Resources Department was a joke, clients entering the office were rude and mad most of the time, poor attitude of upper management and their attitude towards lower grade employees.
