I worked at J Sainsbury full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A real focus on colleagues, lots of staff benefits. Store managers and deputy managers are generally very skilled at engagement and team building this lead to great social calender. the social committees often have trips and parties that are discounted. If you want to work hard you can progress

    Cons

a lot of very clicky teams means sometimes newcomers have to work very hard to fit in. A lot focus on how engaged you are this means that some of the more senior managers expect you to constantly engage with them but often do do it them selves. long hours. and some store managers are simply rude

    Advice to Management

carry on changing for the better, but if you want your colleagues advice and you seem to please make sure you don bot let them down

I worked at J Sainsbury as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly staff Lots of staff at all ages so it's not awkward with a bunch of old people Long breaks (esp. doing a 9 hour shift) High pay - above minimum wage Loads of overtime available on different departments Opportunities to be trained on all departments

    Cons

Nobody was ever on customer services and it is frustrating being moaned to by other customers

    Advice to Management

Get people on customer service! PERMANENTLY!

Sainsburys is a great employer and offers colleagues many great benefits such as discount and generous holiday allowance

    Cons
