I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Staff at my branch were treated with respect and hard work was recognised by management

    Cons

Pay was low but not too dissimilar to other supermarket jobs. The opportunities for promotion should be highlighted more.

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Unskilled, various and wide hours available, good amount of training, bonus at the end of the year, very strong "team" mentality

    Cons

Getting a day off approved needs to have 4 weeks notice in advance, as does swapping a shift.

    I worked at J Sainsbury full-time

    Pros

Management tried very hard to ensure colleagues were listened to and happy. A lot of good employee benefits. Good policies and procedures in place to ensure safety of staff and assets. Good training (a full day, followed by a shadow shift.) The managers in my store helped with restocking and other shop floor duties, no "hiding in the office" like some retail places.

    Cons

Can't think of anything off the top of my head!

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great progression opportunities if you are looking to progress. Lots of overtime and great atmosphere. You can do overtime in other stores (LOCAL) so you can get all different experiences meet lots of people and learn new things.

    Cons

managers coming and going. Not all customers are polite so you have to deal with it. shift patterns can be difficult and not always organised (doing a late shift and then a morning next day)

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

People are nice, working in team was great, the company offers good salary and knows how to reward effective employees.

    Cons

Maybe the fact that people are assigned to one department and do not interact too much with the others... but I was only there for a few months so you can moderate my opinion here.
I was also disappointed to have only a part-time position but I was still worth it.
