Ship without a ruder or a captain in an ocean of icebergs

Middle Management (Former Employee) Baie-d'Urfé, QC (Canada)

ProsThere are some great people working there

ConsZero leadership, zero procedures, zero cohesive vision for departments as a whole who need to all work together to achieve their goals properly. It's like the 80's sales and management model is still in place and they are scratching their heads wondering what's wrong with their clients, staff and vendors. Zero self awareness as to who is the actual problem.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to school, learn distribution best practices (both internal and external) and then manage.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    decent job, not-so-good career

White Collar (Former Employee) Baie-d'Urfé, QC (Canada)

ProsFlexible, casual, and generally pleasant. Good lunch prices at the cafeteria.

ConsNo real security or prospects for making a long-term go of it, poor salary offerings for the industry. These two factors are in danger of creating a dysfunctional 'we'll-take-the-employees-we-can-get' team and the effect on morale to go with it.

Advice to Senior ManagementUtilize people to their potential. Don't make employees fight you for raises, it creates a poor atmosphere and unmotivated employees. Give people free coffee.

Secure Jobs with little growth or salary raise

Graphic Designer (Former Employee) Baie-d'Urfé, QC (Canada)

ProsSecure job, boss lets you do your job, stress free environment. Laid back environment and great co-workers. Nice head office and ok benefits. Parking for employees and cafeteria.

ConsNo growth, not advancement, rigid structure, micro management. Salary 10-20% under market. No salary adjustments. Good for just out of school people to gain experience, but no or hardly any growth within the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind out how to keep your good people working for you.

Great place to work but leave my commissions alone

Sales (Current Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

ProsGreat people to work with and products to sell. Industry leader in brand names and recognition.

ConsPay is based on commissions on sales, strong sales alert management that commission structure needs to be adjusted to reduce earning potential of staff whose only income is from commissions.

Advice to Senior ManagementEstablish fair return for service and then leave the structure alone. If sales of a product are strong then be satisfied with sharing the profits with the agent who is in the field encouraging sales.
