I have been working at JFK Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Learning and mentorship opportunities, commitment to its patients, prioritize ethical billing, solid health basic benefits, opportunity to rotate, 5-6 weeks vacation, supportive work environment

    Cons

Slightly lower than average salary, working weekends, need to go to JFK for benefits, Massmutual has some high expense ratio funds for 401K, limited time off in summer and holiday, lower continuing ed allowance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are doing well, I would include more opportunities for continuing education and making it easier to move up in company

I worked at JFK Medical Center as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I volunteered for a few months. Everyone is nice. Volunteering provides good insight into the daily life at a hospital. Did not interact with doctors as much as I did with the nurses.

I have been working at JFK Medical Center

    Pros

If you can succeed here, you can work anywhere. Hospital is most specialized in area. We perform exams that are not done elsewhere. A flagship hospital for community.

    Cons

No recognition and low salary. Our wages are much lower than average compared to other hospitals in area. Management does not provide a healthy environment. Have to take call at three different sites and a constant turnover in staff means less experienced techs are hired but are not skilled to handle this scope of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the wage to above average. Better techs will come, ones that are skilled and not new and fresh out of school with no experience. Show that they want to reward staff and want to keep skilled staff. Prove that this flagship hospital has a skilled staff willing and eager to show ownership in this hospital.
