Great people, non-exciting work, but great environment.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPeople were always eager to help, always had great attitudes and easy to get answers.

ConsKind of left alone to deal with work without a lot of collaboration and brainstorming.

    Good People, Low-ish Pay

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPeople there are nice and easy to deal with.

ConsThe pay compared to other companies is a little low. To be fair they work on govt. contracts so it is a constant game of hire and fire.. like the rest of the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess under qualified people to pay better qualified people. Instead of 10 low pay less experienced people, get 5 highly qualified people and pay them competitively ,then hire some student for the more entry level type of work. Win-Win-Win!

    I feel let down...

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsSome good people, nice atmosphere, laid back

ConsGood ole boy network to some extent with certain people.

I was terminated as they had lost a recompete for follow on work. HR told us if anything opens up, they would keep all of us in mind to bring us back. I was with the company 7 years and two openings came up, they brought back 2 guys with a little over a year with the company. I was never asked if I wanted to come back...I guess i made too much, Reality, wages are low there, they advertise a certain pay range then pay you below the advertised amount.
Just recently, another position in Instructional Design opened up. I have a background in that as well. I contacted my old PM that handles placement of people, he told me I would have to apply and go through the "proper channels" one month after my termination...I worked for him for 2 years and then you are going to treat me as if I am a total stranger?

The best part of my termination as well as 21 of my co-workers...we all received "Thank you" letters for our service to the company signed by a woman in HR...not the company owner or the CEO. Really? After 7 years there...that's my thanks?

Advice to Senior Managementwhen people give you multiple years of service, stop disrespecting them

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great company with dedicated employees

    Business Development (Former Employee)
    San Antonio, TX

    ProsGood company with great employees

ConsCompany has grown to the point where red tape sometimes gets in the way of progress. Some senior managers have forgotten the art of leadership. Some employees do not feel valued.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in LEADERSHIP refresher training for senior management. Current corporate restructuring does not appear to be working. Develop and communicate strategic goals regularly.

    Almost a family type atmosphere

    Lead Programmer (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsBeing that it is a very small company you have access to virtually all employees and there is a very strong open door policy.

ConsThere is not a lot of room to grow. Most of the upper management positions are filled.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep treating your employees the way that you do. Comfort level is a huge part of building confidence in a person's abilities.

    OK

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Orlando, FL

Prosthere are some interesting projects that you will be able to work on while working for JHT with some nice people.

Consit is all project based work, so you may or may not be able to become full time or continue.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry not to grow too quickly when your work is all project and contract related. Instead do just what you can with the people you have.

    Nice. Very low key.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey have a great benefits package. 401k with matching, health, dental, etc. Seems like a very standard office environment, and although some people were very unhappy with it, I thought it was fine.

ConsThey do seem a bit disorganized at times. The company builds training software, houses, and is it's own staffing agency. Very diverse set of businesses.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should work hard to make sure their programmers and middle management are well taken care of and listened to. They are the people who are actually making the company run.
