  1.

Great people, non-exciting work, but great environment.

    I worked at JHT

    Pros

People were always eager to help, always had great attitudes and easy to get answers.

    Cons

Kind of left alone to deal with work without a lot of collaboration and brainstorming.

  2.

Rumored to be great in the past. I guess I missed that time.

I worked at JHT full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are nice people that care about the company but mainly the administrative team.

    Cons

There are many whispers in the halls that the company is closing the doors. Chief officers are leaving. Remote project managers do not understand their own projects and are uninvolved. Most technical leads do not have strong technical skills leading to much handholding/explaining concepts they should know. There is no development standards, design standards, or internal training for anything while I worked there.

No 401k matching and over 200 employees!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training staff would help them become better at what they need to do. Program managers should be involved with how their programs are being managed or manage them directly. Matching 401k would bring morale back to staff.

    I worked at JHT full-time

    Pros

People there are nice and easy to deal with.

    Cons

The pay compared to other companies is a little low. To be fair they work on govt. contracts so it is a constant game of hire and fire.. like the rest of the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less under qualified people to pay better qualified people. Instead of 10 low pay less experienced people, get 5 highly qualified people and pay them competitively ,then hire some student for the more entry level type of work. Win-Win-Win!

I worked at JHT full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Some good people, nice atmosphere, laid back

    Cons

Good ole boy network to some extent with certain people.

I was terminated as they had lost a recompete for follow on work. HR told us if anything opens up, they would keep all of us in mind to bring us back. I was with the company 7 years and two openings came up, they brought back 2 guys with a little over a year with the company. I was never asked if I wanted to come back...I guess i made too much, Reality, wages are low there, they advertise a certain pay range then pay you below the advertised amount.
Just recently, another position in Instructional Design opened up. I have a background in that as well. I contacted my old PM that handles placement of people, he told me I would have to apply and go through the "proper channels" one month after my termination...I worked for him for 2 years and then you are going to treat me as if I am a total stranger?

The best part of my termination as well as 21 of my co-workers...we all received "Thank you" letters for our service to the company signed by a woman in HR...not the company owner or the CEO. Really? After 7 years there...that's my thanks?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

when people give you multiple years of service, stop disrespecting them

    Pros

    Good company with great employees

    Cons

Company has grown to the point where red tape sometimes gets in the way of progress. Some senior managers have forgotten the art of leadership. Some employees do not feel valued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in LEADERSHIP refresher training for senior management. Current corporate restructuring does not appear to be working. Develop and communicate strategic goals regularly.

I have been working at JHT

    Pros

Being that it is a very small company you have access to virtually all employees and there is a very strong open door policy.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room to grow. Most of the upper management positions are filled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep treating your employees the way that you do. Comfort level is a huge part of building confidence in a person's abilities.

    I worked at JHT

    Pros

there are some interesting projects that you will be able to work on while working for JHT with some nice people.

    Cons

it is all project based work, so you may or may not be able to become full time or continue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try not to grow too quickly when your work is all project and contract related. Instead do just what you can with the people you have.
