    Pros

Benefits. Great cafeterias, free coffee/tea, nail/hair salon, gym, company events, continuing education -- best I've ever experienced.

    Cons

Major league backbiting and politics. I worked for a very strange and fairly new department which will go unnamed. Very intelligent people, but oh-so lacking in reality. No professional savvy with the group I worked for and most of the people either kept to themselves or paired off with a few others. You won't be 'let in' to the group. Don't even try to ask for help ... you are pretty much on your own. The person who ran this unique department had major ego issues ... most of them did. They use Gmail as their company email platform --- odd, odd, odd. If you are a contractor, your chances of being hired permanently are quite slim, regardless of what recruiters tell you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enough with the good ole boy network. Enough with the over reaching egos --- JM is not the only cool place to work, so get over yourselves. This Kool-Aid drinking environment is "so ten minutes ago". You are not splitting the atom or curing cancer, so enough. You are not the next Stephen Hawking -- climb down off the ego ladder, please. Listen to your employees.

    Pros

    Excellent benefits
Associates are consistently trained and motivated in a positive manager.

    Cons

Although diversity is often mentioned. In principle, it is not followed in thought or deed.. Can be a bit restrictive and limiting as far as creativity is concerned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you speak of diversity, ensure your actions are consistent with your words. Currently I did not find that to be the case.

    Pros

The benefits are fantastic. Every employee receives an annual bonus. There are two retirement plans. Discounts on cars are good. Great overall company culture. Lots of activities and perks for employees.

    Cons

Like in all companies, management in certain departments is not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attempt to eliminate favoritism when it comes to management.

    Pros

Salary? medical and dental are decent. profit sharing isn't a bad option but it's nothing moving in my opinion

    Cons

Place seems to be very clique oriented to me. Managers giving you feedback on nothing they know about is probably the most disturbing thing I've noticed here. How can someone be in charge of my career and knows absolutely nothing of what I do on a day to day basis? Kool-aid here is strong (drink it or else) and I sense some tension here.

    Pros

Great salary, great management, great benefits, great opportunities especially at the lower and middle levels of the company. Management truly cares and values associates.

    Cons

Limited upward mobility beyond director. Micro-management and some over-reaction to even the slightest mistakes. Need to diversify the company a bit beyond automobile industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put the right people in the right roles and then trust them to do their job!

I have been working at JM Family Enterprises full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Focus on family. Always moving forward. Following Kaizen.

    Cons

Not many cons. In every business and in every department, there are ebbs and flows. There will be times when things get frustrating. The important thing to remember as associates is the we need to trust that senior management is making the right decisions for the right reasons, even though we may not understand the reasons at the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure associates know why we are working on a given project. Understanding the big picture goes a long way.
