Pros
Interesting work, you can work from home (when permitted by management), everyone gets 20 days of PTO, some people are hightly competent and great to work with
Cons
Management tends to ignore or not action employee concerns. Management has a tendancy to favor people like them (which is not a good thing when they are difficult, disrespectful, and manipulative). Morale tends to be low in most groups; everyone that I speak with does not like working here for various reasons.
Advice to Senior Management
Managment should listen to and ACTION the concerns of employees if they want to retain top talent.
Pros
Chase is extremely structured, and there is no salary cap.
Cons
Chase is also extremely conservative with its approach to customers. Scripts are required.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer bankers more management opportunities as they arise.
Pros
Good resources, able to make deals which other companies of similar size/stature are not able to make
Provide very good training
Cons
Felt like there was a glass ceiling to my rise within the division because I was not of their race.
Pros
There are a myriad of opportunities globally within the firm. It appears to be common to take advantage of opportunities across line of businesses. Also, it is very common to communicate with colleagues across the globe (i.e.: London, Bangalore, Manila).
People at J.P. Morgan also have a very deep knowledge regarding their respective industries. The firm provides the resources needed to acquire industry knowledge (including competitor intellegence).
Cons
Improvement is needed in regards to process efficiencies. Also, I believe that the firm should consider making a greater investment in the new hire on-boarding orientation & certain job-specific training (i.e.: organized job-specific training to ensure that new hires obtain the essential knowledge regarding the firm's systems, groups and processes).
Lastly, management should seriously consider treating employees with better respect and have an ear to hear employee feedback and consider them.
Advice to Senior Management
I beseech you to please seriouly consider employee feedback and suggestions. Also, there is a great need for management to treat all employees with respect. It kills employee morale when threatening to take employee jobs just to produce greater results. Motivating employees and ensuring that all employees are happy is a much better way to inspire employees to produce greater results.
Pros
Great Sales Training
Great opportunities for commission
Most employees are great to work with
Brand is strong in the industry
Cons
Can get repetitive,
Depending on manager, will have to do several role plays which can get old if you are already successful at your job,
Although commissions can be lucrative, salaries should be higher. They also do not increase after 'x' amount of years to hedge inflation
Pros
benefits, locations, brand recognition, products
Cons
micro managing, layers of management, pressure to sell sell sell, product dumping
Advice to Senior Management
let us breathe, give us a better salary,
Pros
Salary was competitive, large company so easy to apply for positions in other departments within the company.
Cons
Perpetual downsizing, No job security. The information technology was very difficult to understand. There was infinite number of applications and corresponding passwords. Getting access to all applications to do your job was also a nightmare.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees need some sense of job security. Constantly hiring and downsizing is terrible for morale.
Pros
large company , room to grow
Cons
Much to Corporate and dry, changes made are only (really) made to the benefit of the company which is to be expected but leave something for the little guy...
Advice to Senior Management
Management is way to scripted and cookie cutter like, being previously in the management field myself I know senior management has their expectations but it seems its NEVER POSSIBLE TO HAVE (REAL) CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE WORKPLACE, COMMISSION ETC..and it feels like they are talking at you instead of to you, also a huge portion of the managers were promoted based on numbers only, just because you were a excellent banker doesnt mean you would be an even good manager, a lot of the newer managers have horrible people skills, dont know how to talk to their workers or inspire them, better interpersonal training is needed without a doubt
Pros
uncapped incentives and a good corporate structure
Cons
the generic role playing and hard selling of mediocre products
Advice to Senior Management
allow more freedom to employees
Pros
Good Benefits and the 401K plan is nice
Cons
They decide how you will be promoted within the organization and care very little about where you would like to go professionally
Advice to Senior Management
Don't micro manage nearly as much
