Pros
Set schedule, Consistent customer service goals, Safe job
Cons
Not treated like a professional, managers with a very micro-manage approach
Advice to Senior Management
Relax
Pros
Flexible place to work (Commute)
Easy and Light weight applications
Cons
Mean Time Sense
Lack of Professionalism
Advice to Senior Management
Be Productive and helpful to employees
Pros
Vacation is very fair, 4 weeks plus bank holidays plus personal and sick days.
Compensation is more than smaller companies but very little room to move up from where you start.
Cons
I had 8 different managers in a span of 2 years once. All of whom worked in a different city, and non of whom I ever met personally. Needless to say that when bonus and raise time came around I was a complete stranger to the manager I ended up under at the end of the year. This equates to the standard 1.5% raise and a 3% bonus no matter what you've done during the year.
Advice to Senior Management
There are more chiefs than indians, and more red tape to justify peoples jobs than neccessary. Constantly re-orging the business units does not increase efficiency it reduces it and makes employees feel as though you do not know how to manage them. The constant outsourcing of jobs makes current employees give less than their best effort because they spend half their time looking for another position before they axed themselves.
Pros
Nice time off package.
If you have the right boss it is nice.
Not a lot of late nights or long days.
Cons
If you work for the wrong person...
Bosses were bullies.
Bosses were from the good old boy club
Bosses pets could do whatever they wanted and get away with it.
Lots of playing favorites.
Hostile and poor listening skills in management.
Very limited chance of promotion or learning new skills.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should understand some IT concepts. Not just repeat back what other manager is saying.
Management should attempt to listen to employees.
Management should NOT just play lip service to design approaches. If you don't like Agile and Scrum don't use it.
Pros
nice people, good technology, name value
Cons
corporate diplomacy, poor benefit, unfair treatment
Advice to Senior Management
more recognition, competitative pay for good performance
Pros
Good for if you want a family gives you 3 months off for maternity leave.
Cons
Its just high school repeated.... Upper management is more interested in a rummer then moving up.
Pros
Looks great on a resume'
Good benefits
competive salary.
Cons
very politically charged. Management spends more time networking, than developing .Limited training available. Yourcareer path is controlled by your direct report. To many cliques, and not enough team work.
Advice to Senior Management
Its' OK to promote awhite male, who is educated, whoisnot Mr Dimon. Quit the clique, as its toxic for business Work and life balance are more than asloganAllow for moves into other lines of business, an agile staff is imperative. Teach senoir management manners, being rude is never acceptable.
Pros
convenience of having many locations
Cons
constant turnover
Management style is control by fear
Advice to Senior Management
doesn't matter because it won't change
Pros
1. High salary. Excellent Health Care, excellent pension scheme, benefits package.
2. Great peer working relationships
3. Interesting projects, learning on the job opportunities, good training options
Cons
1. Lack of exposure to Senior Management. Management struggle to find time to listen
2. Blame culture. Silos's still exist.
3. 'Jack of all trades' perception in job title prevents acceptance of and dedication to specific skillets i.e. Project Management. In this example, BA's tend to get lumped with PM role, which impacts delivery (negatively). JPM should go back to separating roles and responsibilities. They have the funds to allow this!!
Advice to Senior Management
There is so much wastage of finance at project level in I.T. Caused by poor upward reporting at ED level, lack of knowledge sharing, too many tactical solutions, strategic decisions taking too long to be implemented. Very, very frustrating. The saves which could be achieved could be used to employ more people, to stop the burn-out of people, and ensure that PM's do a PM role, BA's do a BA role etc. etc.
Pros
the pay at chase bank is great
Cons
expectation is too high on sales production
Advice to Senior Management
focus more on appreciating the employees
