Advice to Senior Management
Use your employees talents better, dont just go by what or how they hired for.
Pros
JPMorgan Chase provides an opportunity to obtain experience in a broad number of financial services and technology disciplines. WIth global exposure, an abundance of subject matter experts and plenty of in-house training and funding for external courses, one can reap great benefits if aggressive and eager to learn.
Cons
As with many large financial institutions that have ability to impact the markets, caution leads to beaucracy that can make it difficult to get things done and frustrate those who are results-driven and seeking instant gratification. Also, while the firm has fared better than most competitors through the economic downturn, success has come at the expense of signinficantly reduced employee benefits.
Pros
Flexible and understanding of work/life balance. Fairness was always displayed to all team members and there were many opportunities to socialize as a team after work, which was always refreshing.
Cons
Nothing too major, increase bonus for sales assistants working on the trading floor. Managers need to communicate changes in a timely manner and not be so secretive about it.
Pros
A good place to start your career, having JP morgan chase on your resume is a plus. However, JP Morgan and Chase are 2 very different organizations. Those who work for JP morgan always state they work for JP morgan, never for Chase. They are always hiring, however, there is a very high turn over rate for this position.
Cons
Major Micro-management, impossible to promote into any other departments from retail banking center. Management is not concerned with your career, however, there own, and you will be replaced if you do not meet the requirements they require. You can make decent money as long as you worry about your own pockets, and your own future, and less of that of management. Management will promote those they like, as oppose to those who work hard, and get the job done.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to promote those who can better the company through talent, and a hard work ethic, not those who know how to brown nose....
Pros
Used to have great benefits and above average pay.
Cons
Passed over on 2 promotions so the buddy of the VP could advance. He is a total failure, Server Admin to run Network Engineering group makes no sense. People with x4 experence passed over and disgarded.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the people who know what their doing and get rid of the good ole boys club.
Pros
Huge footprint for investment banking meaning you can get exposure to many various businesses for career progression.
Cons
Typical red tape everywhere. In operations, they will screw you every year when it comes bonus/raise time.
Pros
It is a large corporation, and respected industry wide. While salary is often low, they have various incentive programs that you can actually earn much more.
Cons
It is often very difficult to transition to other lines of business within the corporation. It often feels like entirely different entities. IT is often a micro-management environment.
