    Pros

International experience, strong fundamentals of marketing, reward creativity due to challenging operating environment, and working on brands with global recognition.

    Cons

A lot of layers and can become too process oriented which slows speed-to-market, but management is taking steps to try and improve this...industry is controversial, not always surrounded by the best & the brightest, but if you're good, provides opportunity to standout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to promote the values and build towards greater transparency.

    Pros

Truly international company, fascinating business, budgets are not an issue. Fairly generous compensation packages. Quite decent human relations - people tend to focus on work more than on internal politics. Great company if you feel you already have the basic technical competencies in your area - you can possible learn a lot "on the job". A lot depends on who your boss/team members are - this can make the whole work experience a heaven or hell. My personal experience varied from "excellent" to "average".

    Cons

As a relatively young company, JT International is still in the process of developing its own identity - there is a lack of strong corporate culture. Also lack of processes for systematic knowledge building and sharing within the company. People bring the technical skills from previous companies - this makes the overall competencies level quite uneven. Would not recommend JTI for a young graduate - few other companies are well recognized as excellent professional "schools". In JTI a lot depends on luck, vide - lack of strong culture that would make the working experience less dependent on individual managers.

    Pros

Large multinational company potentially offering a range of jobs, salary and working conditions are good.

    Cons

Bureaucratic decision making and control systems. Management by standard management textbook. Lot of time spent on meaningless big company games. Succession planning unclear. The family is JTI not your family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee staff with ability and fully utilise that ability for the benefit of staff and company. Greater speed and clarity in decision making.

    Pros

Great compensation package, and the team below the senior management level was great, though the moral had declined over the last decade mainly due opinion of senior management.

    Cons

Senior management at JTI-Macdonald very much needs some fresh blood, especially the President. My most recent manager in the international headquarters in Geneva was lacking in integrity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to bring in a new president from the outside to allow fresh perspectives and new leadership style to come into the organization.

Current Employee - Marketing Activator Manager in Trier (Germany)

    Pros

Great chance to work with people around the world, from various cultures and backgrounds. Good training in current position available, allowing future possibilities elsewhere.

    Cons

Major politics, or external "off the record" activities-favors needed to move up the ladder. Knowledge, professionalism, dedication to your position will not count for promotion. HR Monopoly, meaning if you are "in" their click, then you have a chance for promotion. Nothing to do with your performance record. General Manager/Director in place who can not write the standard business correspondence, but rely on "copy & paste" from others..... hello?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean up the HR Departments and put in professionals with a fair method of judgment for the employee performance. The performance appraisal we just completed, is another joke. If you look at it, you are not getting a true picture of anything.
