    Not the same place

    Server (Former Employee)
    Cheektowaga, NY

ProsFun atmosphere, insurance is available if needed.

ConsUsed to only promote from within, but recently brought in new management from outside and has killed the atmosphere. When I first started, it was fun and relaxed and customer satisfaction centered. Corporate now bogs servers down with guest feedback questionnaires and is very impersonal. No longer a fun place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to your old model! This used to be THE place to eat in the Galleria, now it is just run of the mill.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    ProsCool people to work with.
    Good food.
    Busy during peak seasons

ConsIf you aren't a favorite, you won't be promoted.
If you aren't good looking, you won't be put into the bar.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be so fickle

    Fun environment, poor management.

    Server (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsThe people are generally great to work with and everyone has a positive attitude. Excellent training in place.

ConsThere was very poor management, did not deal with problems in a friendly or constructive way. Further, they punished you for booking days off by not scheduling you many shifts afterwards. You could be scheduled until 8 and still have to work until 1am.

Advice to Senior ManagementScreen General Managers more carefully.

Fun staff but crazy scheduling and unorganized.

    Server (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsWonderful serving staff, hostesses, bartenders, kitchen staff and cleaning staff. Good energy and jack's takes the time to train new employees well. Not afraid to take someone with little experience if they have a good personality and potential for growth.

ConsScheduling was all over the place. I never knew when my "real end time" would be (the nature of serving...). Often ignored my availability. Scheduled me for a 14 hour split shift during the day putting me into overtime.

Advice to Senior ManagementLittle communication and consistency between managers in my opinion.

    Great experience.

    Server/Bartender (Former Employee)

ProsThe people are the best part of the job. They screen for certain personalities and everyone gets along brilliantly.

ConsManagement sees you as an number and not an individual. Management changes often. They constantly over staff. EVERY SHIFT. Seem to think that every person who serves tables can only handle 4 tables at a time which is a joke.

    Fun Environment, Teamwork Oriented

    Server (Former Employee)
    London, ON (Canada)

ProsFood is half-price, you can be scheduled a lot during peak seasons (mainly summer), great potential for making money. Your co-workers become your best friends, and the events they host are always a good time

ConsIf you are not a driven sales person, you will not thrive in this environment. They place a lot of emphasis on sales and you must up-sell in order to be given shifts. Your up-sells are posted on the wall which can be intimidating if you are just starting out, or new to the industry.

It was fun but like going back to highschool.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosgood money, easy, gives you lots of shifts, fun environment, close with coworkers

Consmanagement hits on you, management picks favourites, management cheats and lies, management acts like children, its like a giant high school

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some management courses.

    Mismanaged and inconsistent (Dartmouth, NS)

    Cook (Current Employee)
    Halifax, NS (Canada)

    Pros- 50% off food
    - easy meals to prepare

Cons- kitchen manager was never present
    - last minute schedule changes without notice
    - long and irregular shifts
    - many employees show up inebriated (including managers)
    - little communication
    - negative working enviroment

Advice to Senior Management- Keep an eye on your staff, and discipline when required.
    - COMMUNICATE with your staff, not just select members.
    - encourage your staff with positive reinforcement.
