    Advice to ManagementAdvice

when it comes to per-diem staffing it suck back to back the supervisors calls an individual off, even when the supervisor asks for your availability and you submitted it, i was called off so much time i almost ended up homeless, the scheduling department is terrible, and not consistent overall I love working there Love the staffs, friendly setting a awesome Hospital to work.

I worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits although used to be better; salaries above what others hospitals are paying; a teaching hospital where you can gain an abundance of skills and knowledge.

    Cons

Due to the hospital's past financial problems, lay-offs and terminations the staff that remains are overwhelmed with working short staffed. Now have many per-diem pool staff replacing full time employees and they are not reliable or dedicated;and thus the quality of care the patients receive have also decreased. There are favoritisms and cliques among members of management and staff.

I worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Experiences acquired in different fields .benefits ,union presence

    Cons

Lack of formal/informal feedback concerning your performance especially at the corporate level.
Do managers really read an employees resume/cover letter or is this left solely for human resources to handle?
Personal growth and promotions remains slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

OFFICE CULTURE SHOULD BE SHARED -not discovered
Restructuring of a department by managers should be shared with the employees and the opportunity given to the employee to transfer to another department if needed or if you are not a suitable fit.
Talk to your employees about relevant issues pertaining to your department first before getting labor relations involve.

I have been working at Jackson Memorial Hospital part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The organization gives you the opportunity, and privileged to expand and to promote from within, care about employees interests, and able to recruit anyone who wants to further their education.Great coworkers and management willing to work with schedules, and decent pay rate, good chance to for advancing.

    Cons

In my current role I develop and maintain strong relationships with a local network of agencies to provide clients with access to the widest range of services available. Internally, I also work within a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I Was able to learn many essential skills with mental health, i will use the tools throughout my career, i just wished that i had a set schedule and a 12 hours shift instead of 8. but overall the company is the best so far.

  8. Used to be a great place to work. Not so much any more.

I have been working at Jackson Memorial Hospital as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with and better pay than most other areas in the county.

    Cons

Bad neighborhood to work in (more crime and issues then you would anticipate). Morale is terrible here. Positions have been cut left and right (either eliminated completely or converted to part time). Many patients and staff are very combative and aggressive to each other. It's just going down hill and fast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time/money to invest in the hospital, employees and patients. When people feel valued and needed they give you double of what you gave them. Go back to what made this hospital the best place to go to and work at.

I have been working at Jackson Memorial Hospital

    Pros

Jackson used to be a place that I tjouhjt I would retire from. However times has changed and quickly. We used to get cost of living raises, merit increases and longevity bonuses but these are all things of the past.

    Cons

Bad staffing, people getting hired by friends or family and not qualified to do the job. No room for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair! Give everyone an opportunity to shine if they choose to and stop hiring all your friends and family. There's so many qualified people who really need a job!!!
