I have been working at Jacksonville State University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

work life balance better than most companies, opportunities to further education, tuition remission

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement not ideal unless you are looking to stay until retirement. Very buddy buddy system in and around campus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management doesn't like folks who, 'rock the boat,' they'd much rather over look issues than take care of them.

I have been working at Jacksonville State University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Overall my experience as a graduate assistant at the MCIS department of JSU has been positive. I have had experience with teaching my own freshman course, which has made me more confident in public speaking and gave me the opportunity to design projects for students. The instructors and professors of the department are very enthusiastic and always have interesting research and projects to work on.

    Cons

The tuition remission does not cover the online fee of courses, and all courses in the computer science graduate program are online.

I have been working at Jacksonville State University part-time

    Pros

Very friendly work environment where employees work together and are willing to help coworkers grow professionally.

    Cons

Not a fast pace environment and therefore not a company for a dynamic person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More responsibilities across the university for the decision makers in order to improve the quality and opportunities of the undergrad and graduate students after finishing their degrees.

    Pros

Free housing comes with the job. In addition, you get a monthly paycheck. You save over $2000 by getting a free room each semester.

    Cons

You have to work on their schedule. Additionally, the pay sucks. It is not even enough to live off of as a college student.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay should be increased yearly based on seniority.
