Best of luck to you Jacobs

    Engineer (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsThere is opportunity to travel, alot.

ConsLiars, harassment, discrimination, mobbing. if you're not white and male at 50+ you will not get anywhere within this company no matter how much effort you expend. Management doesn't understand anything even slightly outside of their own white male world view. If you are different than the cultural 'norm' you are a threat, treated poorly and subjected to a toxic environment.

Wage discrimination between male and female engineers, guess which direction. No regard for safety, they will send a young female to a foreign country without providing a cell phone or vehicle, too cheap or don't care, unsure which. Bullying, blocking work and communications that are required to do your job. Laptop surveillance. Unprofessional treatment. Even their lawyers are unprofessional. It's too bad they throw their good loyal people away.

This is a very "corporate" workplace. Individuality is not appreciated.

    Business Development (Current Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsIf you're a man or a woman without a college degree, the pay is great.

ConsWomen with college degrees are not paid equally to men unless they're in a position when salaries are known.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpdate the company. No perks isn't going to bring in the younger generation.

ConsGood old boy network and nepetism

    Frustrating

    Field Engineering (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsDecent pay and benefits. Quality work staff.

ConsLong hours, lack of leadership, lack of understanding of how hard people work for the company or what their employees do. Employees are tradable commodities, but are hated by Jacobs if an employee becomes a free agent. Company has a chip on their shoulder. Too worried about the bottom line and the not the quaility or results of the work at hand. Continuous and constant minute by minute concerns about budget. Culture of used or be used.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot sure who management was, and there lies the problem. Top heavy with overhead personnel that do not bring much to the cause. Billable employees support the non-billable overhead staff. Upside down management culture. Budget, budget, budget...That's all that matters. I worked 16 hour shifts at remote locations with no help or concern for my welfare. How's the budget, how's the budget, hows the budget. I get it, but I needed a new job. Gone and out of there. Best of luck to you.

    Local management is incompetent

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsGood Engineering. People work hard out of pride of performance. Salaries are as good as anyone's in town for similar work. Flexible hours.

ConsManagement has no understanding of project-management-process (PMP) or proper execution of a job. Clients are consistently dissatisfied when the cost is considerably higher and schedule is considerably longer than what was bid. No change control whatsoever. Management consistently underbids work, then blames engineers for non-performance at the end of the job. Makes for distrust and bad team dynamics.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo Jacobs corporate management...figure some way to get the office to work together. As it is, they operate like individual franchises where every office is for themselves. The offices do things which are in direct opposition to shareholder value, and a disservice to clients.

ProsJacobs is a very large corporation and the bottom line is the primary objective.

ConsAs indicated in the answer above, further to that point my experience was marred by a co-worker who was less than professional.
