    Great company!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsI was a Jacobs employee for 5 years. Great pay, benefits, and company culture.

ConsI had a hard time working out FMLA and disability issues with our local HR department. I had a hard time getting up-to-date paperwork (forms, info, etc.) and getting in touch with personnel. Later the HR department switched over to a help desk/ticket system in which we had to submit queries through their online portal. If employees tried to contact any of the personnel directly instead of submitting a ticket, supervisors were reprimanded; this effectively stunted HR accessibility.

Very good opportunity to gain valuable experience at a well run company.

ProsVery knowledgeable co-workers to learn from, well managed and balanced company.
Good workers can quickly move upwards, with very little micro-management to get in the way.

ConsOnly the on again / off again nature of government work (It was all NASA contract work)

    Good employer.

    Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee)
    Hampton, VA

ProsHires older, experienced personnel. Strong emphasis on safety. With a government assignment, the work load is not overly intense.

ConsPay and benefits tend to be less than that in heavy manufacturing. Not much opportunity for promotion or advancement for older personnel.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdjusting pay upward would reduce turnover and promote allegiance. Of course, with the current economy, many are content to just have a job.

    Solid, stable employer

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsA relatively stable company with a strong national presence and multiple locations. Interesting work across a variety of industry and clients.

ConsSalaries below market and raises do not keep up with cost of living. With the majority of their work contract-related, it can be hard to advance or progress. Contract work can add or disappear, overnight.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay the people you want to keep what they're worth. Retention of key people costs less than turnover.

Working at Jacobs Technology has provided great advancement opportunities.

    Team Lead (Current Employee)
    Albany, GA

ProsJacobs Technology is a company who realizes that its employees are its best attribute. As a contracting company, they actively recruit and hire subject matter experts across a widely diverse range of skill sets.
Jacobs is also very good to retain its best employees even through contractural term limitations.
Jacobs has one of the best Safety cultures of any company, utilizing its "Beyond Zero" concept.

ConsThe nature of the business itself - a contracting company. Contracts have limits, which may mean short-term employment opportunities for some.
Many policies and procedures related to management and leadership training are outdated.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake Jacobs Technology to the next level by updating the company's concept on leadership and employee relations to better reflect current industry standards of empowerment and responsibility.
