    Pros

There are some very good people and you are exposed to a diverse set of them. If you are tenacious and enjoy learning complex systems, this company MIGHT work for you.

    Cons

Abusive management, ridiculous hours, pathetic wages, no structure, no regulation, unsafe working conditions. You better exercise your lips so you don't sprain them from all the rear end kissing you'll have to do just to keep your pathetic excuse for a job. I've seen so many talented, hard working people mowed down like cannon fodder, while lazy, abusive, in some cases down right stupid people reap the rewards for others hard work. Enter this company at your own risk. They should have a negative star rating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of your selves and bring in some people that actually care about....oh, people. Caring about the company might help instead of sucking every penny you can from it and your employees. I hope the corporation you sold out to does better.

    Pros

Still trying to figure that out.

    Cons

Management couldn't get out of their way if they tried. They are not for the people that works for them. Micro manage and when you call them on the carpet they lie about it. The hiring that goes on is extremely poor. Alot of turnover and you're getting what you are paying for. Pay your staff and show them you csre instead of lying. Moral is very low. It's just a pay check to me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should really put someone in charge and know what they are doing. Learn so people skills.

I have been working at Jacobson Companies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    It's a job. Low paying, but it's a job.

    Cons

Compensation varies, but, definately lower pay scale, unless you get hired by your friend, then you get paid more than those who should have been promoted.
Management has NO respect nor do they care about the "LOWER" class employees.
Management does not take any advise from the employees.
They talk safety, but, it is just talk unless something happens, then it is YOUR fault.
Need repairs on your truck? Well that depends on whether they paid their bills. Most suppliers (vendors) will not extend credit anymore because the bills are not paid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with SOME respect. Stop preaching one thing and doing another. Pay us fairly. Other companies are just that, other companies. Some newer drivers do not deserve what they get, more pay per mile, buddy buddy attitude, better runs than the rest, they can do nothing wrong. FACT is, they do not do what they are supposed to do. They leave major problems for the next person and "nothing" is said to them. My point is, if you want the CSA2010 score to come down, PAY ATTENTION to what is happening. Pay the repair bills from before so we can get repairs done to our equipment. The biggest thing that I would suggest you do is to PAY ATTENTION. Reward those who deserve it, NOT those who create the problems and get rid of the Transportation Manager in Camp Hill, PA. He is a major problem. You just do not see it because you do NOT PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!

    Pros

    Will hire anyone at all.

    Cons

Very low pay and a lot of favoritism. Certain employees are allowed to take extra smoke breaks that others would get written up or terminated for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat ALL employees with respect and give decent raises.

    Pros

Lots of flexibility, management was willing to work with you as long as you worked hard for them.

    Cons

Sometimes there was a lack of consistency in how rules and discipline was applied.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with a unified plan and stick with it, always be consistent.

I worked at Jacobson Companies full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

My co-workers were mostly great folks to work with.
    Casual dress.

    Cons

    Long hours for nominal pay.
Additional Benefits were much better when I started with the company. We seemed to lose more and more benefits each year.
Annual reviews are not given timely (if at all) and raises are sparse.
No middle management support. Many utilize military management style and "order" results without the expertise to understand what is required to produce the results they have requested (or to know that the results they have requested is not the best plan). They seem to just be trying to please upper management.
Constantly changing environment with no management plan for implementation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace middle management with people that have a vision and the knowledge to implement it.
Be realistic about the time and finances required to implement far reaching changes, especially in IT systems. Low cost does indeed mean cheap in many cases.
