I worked at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of flexibility, management was willing to work with you as long as you worked hard for them.

    Cons

Sometimes there was a lack of consistency in how rules and discipline was applied.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with a unified plan and stick with it, always be consistent.

I worked at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

My co-workers were mostly great folks to work with.
    Casual dress.

    Cons

    Long hours for nominal pay.
Additional Benefits were much better when I started with the company. We seemed to lose more and more benefits each year.
Annual reviews are not given timely (if at all) and raises are sparse.
No middle management support. Many utilize military management style and "order" results without the expertise to understand what is required to produce the results they have requested (or to know that the results they have requested is not the best plan). They seem to just be trying to please upper management.
Constantly changing environment with no management plan for implementation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace middle management with people that have a vision and the knowledge to implement it.
Be realistic about the time and finances required to implement far reaching changes, especially in IT systems. Low cost does indeed mean cheap in many cases.

I have been working at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Will hire anyone at all.

    Cons

Very low pay and a lot of favoritism. Certain employees are allowed to take extra smoke breaks that others would get written up or terminated for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat ALL employees with respect and give decent raises.

I have been working at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is a nationwide company so there is a possibility to change jobs and locations without losing seniority. Golden location has some good supervisors and co-workers.

    Cons

Not the best pay scale and the corporate attitude is that they can always find another driver if you don't like it here. This job involves climbing in and out of a truck about 75 times or more during an 8 hour shift but the job is not labor intensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay and show your drivers they are important.

I worked at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are good, knowledgeable, underutilized employees within their system.

    Cons

Management is ignorant to getting work done properly. Some aspects they choose to be ignorant of, but much of it is because they really don't know how to manage. They lack the desire to "do the job right the first time" which happens to be part of their motto.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at how you choose your management staff.

I have been working at Jacobson Companies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice facility, pay is competitive, the people are great to work with. It is a casual environment, but fast paced. I feel a very positive outlook on the future at Jacobson.

    Cons

When the office moved my commute got a little longer; the benefits of the move outweigh the additional commuting time though.
