I have been working at James Avery part-time

    Pros

The company generally has very good policies and working for them was pleasant. While learning on the job, especially around the holidays, is hectic, generally it's fairly easy stuff and many people are more than happy to help you and set you straight, since they had the same problems initially. Additionally, the guests that frequent the store are almost always polite and helpful. Not really any angry customers.

    Cons

Constantly standing on your feet, but otherwise a great job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing to add.

    Pros

    Great coworkers! Easy work

    Cons

    HORRIBLE STORE MANAGER!!!!
She played favorites! I brought in sales like crazy! And yet she still didn't like me! She would make up her own rules and tell one person and not everyone else.. Poor management skills! Always going out shopping on her working days, we were located at the outlets! Always talked shot out customers in SPANISH! Doesn't even know how to do engraving what manager is that!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the store manager Sarita out of your company she's ruining the business at that location and you know it!

I worked at James Avery part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

People are very nice, customers are friendly, products sell easily, discount is great.

    Cons

Pay is low and getting time off is difficult. Not allowed to sit during shift which can get long and tedious when store is not busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't move away from Christian-oriented jewelry. Many lifelong customers come to the store for that type of product and are disappointed to see items discontinued and the shift to a more secular appeal.

I worked at James Avery part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working environment is very nice. Pay is ok. Hours are good. Training was simple. If it matters to you, the discount is nice.

    Cons

When it's slow, it's slow and there isn't anything to do. Standing your entire shift is pretty tiring. Promotions and growth is incredibly difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire 60+ temporary workers for Christmas just to keep 2 of them. That sucked.

    Pros

fast paced, traning and good company values, great leadership, and very clean and organized. The employees and manager were friendly and nice. And its a good working environment.

    Cons

promotions take awhile to get. not much room for personal growth becasue it is the same routine everyday of work. But overall I believe it is a great place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is good. However, I believe there should be some adjusting or arrangement where employees can have more room to grow through promtional sales.

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible work schedule, holiday pay, great discount, company prefers to promote from within existing pool of employees, selling quality jewelry.

    Cons

On your feet entire shift, a lot of bending over to pull jewelry from drawers, must have excellent interpersonal skills.
