The Credo is for show. Don't believe it. Don't believe them when they say uncapped bonus.

I have been working at Janssen full-time

    Pros

They have good intentions and have really stepped up in the area of new product development and newly approved meds. Excellent products and improvement in marketing.

    Cons

They change leadership every couple of years and with it, change strategies, direction, focus, etc. Its hard to keep up with the new Mgmnt faces that revolve in and out.
This is disconcerting and frustrating to the field sales force. The ' credo' values of J&J are spoken of, but have mostly disappeared in recent years unfortunately. Much of upper management are from outside J&J and don't seem to have the same loyalty to employees.

I have been working at Janssen (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you can get one of the increasingly rare FTE positions, pay is good, the people are fabulous, the work is interesting.

    Cons

Janssen, like all J&J companies, has a weird habit of systematically devaluing current FTEs. Cubes are shifted around to be smaller, work flow is interrupted regularly by reorgs, current FTEs are pushed down in the hierarchy as new people are placed on the top. They've removed all actual workers, most mangers and are now shaving off Directors, leaving Janssen as a holding company with VPs and above and contractors doing most of the work. As employees reach their 50s or get close to vesting, they should expect to be reorged around and their job disappeared.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hire the best, stop wasting their expertise in tax-oriented reorgs. Give them the resources and support they need and J&J might last into the end of the 21st century. Stop talking about the Credo, you don't mean a word of it.

I have been working at Janssen

    Pros

The company is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience within the pharmaceutical world. I know the recent ups and downs seem negative, but things are getting better.

    Cons

Within my local site, the chance for opportunity is forever blooming. My only issue is that I like to become the best at what ever I am doing and the opportunity for promotion has passed by me several times because management is afraid to submit the requisition. My only opportunity I see in advancement is to take another position within another department for the same organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see management apply some level of formality for promoting individuals within their respective departments. Some individuals like where they work, and don't want to move around the company seeking for a higher position.
