    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need some fresh blood to keep up with the market in higher roles. Not enough creativity within the organization.

    I worked at Jarden

    Pros

Access to working on great brands, great benefits, summer hours

    Cons

No structure in creative services for promoting designers. No matter your skill or commitment level - all are treated equally. It's discouraging for those that want to grow and give 150% but is comfortable for those with less ambition to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise to work on a structure in the creative department that rewards people's work.

I have been working at Jarden

    Pros

Good people who really care about their businesses and achieving their goals

    Cons

Senior management is controlling and sometimes short sighted. They don't empower people to make decisions. By not investing in our brands, they have allowed the brands to lose relevance with consumers. Politics and a small number of executives rule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose one or two brands to focus on and invest in them. Divest businesses that are not profitable or growing. You have good people working there. Listen to them and empower them.

I have been working at Jarden full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company has work life balance.

    Cons

Expensive benefits with very high deductibles, below average 401k with low match, ego CEO that takes credit for good ideas form others and finds scapegoats for his bad ideas. Staff eliminations not unusual and are disguised under expense management while corporate executives drop big bucks on the new jet and other executive necessities. It's a men's club that is not committed to building a bench of female executives. The general culture is very negative and disconnected. When you find talent, they are afraid to speak up and lead. The corporate office in Rye is gossip driven.

    Pros

This company offers great benefits, industry standard wages, personal growth, career training. Employee personal issues are sometimes taken into consideration. The company strives to create a team oriented atmosphere.

    Cons

Employees are not readily rewarded with job promotions. The work load is distributed among a small number of employees causing employee stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more to ensure employees do not move on to other companies.

I have been working at Jarden full-time

    Pros

Wonderful people; most were genuinely passionate about what they did and making a difference.

    Cons

Culture fostered email correspondence versus face to face conversations (was told many times it was due to a CYA culture). Communication was lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great "small company" atmosphere; really makes it more of a family than a company. Too many layers in one area; there's dead weight.
