    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities for account assistants to grow.

Not a great place to work. Don't stay longer than a year.

I worked at Jasculca/Terman full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-As an intern (AA) you get a lot of great experience.
-They are really flexible with time off.
-As a JAE you get a lot of client-facing time and really learn on the fly how to deal with difficult clients.

    Cons

-Pay is horrible. I actually don't know how people live on what they pay.
-Office culture is non-existent. People stay in their offices and do not mentor younger staffers at all.
-You will not be appreciated for the long hours your work.
-I actually left feeling depressed. It just isn't a fun place to work and people seem to hate their lives there.
-Everyone who works there has been there forever. That means there is no new blood and their tactics and campaigns are kind of stale.
-They do not hire AAs at all. Work as hard as you want, but they will not hire you.
-You are often thrown into difficult situations with no guidance. You need to be smart on your own, don't expect senior support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Hire people! You need to hire young and experienced people. PR is changing rapidly and your whole staff only has experience at JT. You need to hire people outside of your bubble to continue to grow.
-Revamp your "HR department." Basically no one knows what the rules are. Employees have no idea what their benefits are because they aren't clearly laid out or respected by management. Plus, there is really no one to go to with complaints of any kind which makes working at JT stressful and unsatisfying
-Provide some formal training to your staff. There is no new learning going on within JT. People need training on new tactics and PR tools.

I worked at Jasculca/Terman as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Exposure to many different types of tasks and important clients. Great variety, pretty exciting. Good experience - they really train you to work for difficult clients and people.

    Cons

Crying-in-your-milk, soul-sucking depression. Practically a sweatshop - they tell you up front when you interview for an account assistant (intern) position that you probably wont get hired after your three months is up. The only way to even consider getting hired on is to start as an intern. Rampant favoritism and nepotism, although the CEO's son is pretty cool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some decent account assistants and pay them a living wage instead of cycling through and staggering several dozen every three months.

    I worked at Jasculca/Terman

    Pros

    -Senior staff knows their stuff
-You'll meet and make great connections if you're smart and savvy about getting in good with the right people.
-The staff is ethical and creative with their clients' needs, no shifty PR stunts and coverups at this firm.
-Great place to work and move on after 2 years
-Good balance of old and young staffers

    Cons

-Pay is well below industry average
-If you don't like working with people who LIVE for cliques, don't work here
-Knowing someone (as opposed to performance) will get you promoted faster than doing a great job
-Some of the middle managers are borderline obsessive with their 24-hr schedules and they expect the same from you. Forget having a life that doesn't revolve around JT.
-If you have an issue with your direct manager, good-luck finding an empathetic or impartial ear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more attention to a HUMAN RESOURCES department and hiring middle managers who will manage well... There's a huge lack of people-management skills in middle management. There have been plenty of staffers who start off great but eventually leave the firm because their Sr. AE was a problem.

    Pros

This is an ok company to work for, I guess. If you can't get a job anywhere, work here. You get free coffee, but don't you get that everywhere?

    Cons

It's very liberal. They is a lot of politics going on.....everyone has favorites. Watch out. This place will take your soul.

    I worked at Jasculca/Terman

    Pros

    - The principles are great at their craft.
    - Very Flexible with time off
    - A couple good middle managers (VP's)
    - You get to do a lot of high level message development for a diverse list of clients

    Cons

    - HORRIBLY Underpaid
    - Impossible to move up in the company unless you know or are related to one of the principals
    - Staff is overworked, too many clients for current staff
    - Getting stuck working events (regardless of whether you are on that team or not) without getting paid overtime
    - Office culture is extremely poor. Most people openly admit hating their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people who are actually qualified to do the job, and not simply because they have a connection to the firm. Then invest some money in your workforce. Hire some Jr. Account Executives so that your staff doesn't have to rely on unerpaid, untrained, unqualified interns. Its a shame, JT could be a great place to get some real impressive work experience, but as it stands, I wouldn't suggest anyone work there.

    I worked at Jasculca/Terman

    Pros

Allow you to work on a variety of projects and with many different clients. Mid sized so it doesn't feel as if you're drowning in people.

    Cons

Not as many resources as a bigger PR agency. Work can become diluted because of hiring too many account assistants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire as many account assistants and take input from lower staff members, they have good ideas and valuable input.
