ProsAwesome exposure, responsibility and visibility. Fantastic experience. Unparalleled live deal experience for a 10 week summer intern, was able to make a noticeable impact in the office and was recognized accordingly for my work.

ConsLike any IB job, no personal life, many 90+ hour weeks etc.

Outstanding company, great promise for the future

Investment Banking Associate (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsJefferies' investment banking franchise is fast-growing and well-positioned for the future. If you want to make a career in investment banking, it's one of the best places to go.

ConsWork/life balance is nonexistent. If you want to be an investment banker, be prepared to regularly work 100+ hour weeks and not take vacations for a year at a time.

Advice to Senior ManagementRich Handler is a best-in-class CEO. Rich and Brian's leadership is inspirational.

Great company, quirky, unfair group leadership

Capital Markets Analyst (Former Employee) Stamford, CT

ProsCompetitive pay, smaller groups, some great managers, a pure investment bank, great company outings, workhard playhard

ConsMostly great managers, however, my group seemed disinterested in mentoring/fostering/training the junior guys.

Advice to Senior ManagementExecutive management is a good as can be, doing the best they can to fend off the inaccurate and un-warrented attacks on the company.

Great Place, Great Experience, Strong Deal Flow

Analyst (Current Employee) Foster City, CA

ProsAwesome deal flow. One of the top names in tech investment banking

Conslong hours, sometimes feels like we work well in excess of typical investment bankers (who already work a lot)

Advice to Senior ManagementGood work, keep bringing in deals. Also keep an eye on overworked employees to make sure they dont get too burned out.

A good company with honest senior management and strong core values.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsAs the big 6 turned to the big 4 and then the big? Jefferies is strong, and will remain.

ConsCompansation not as competitive as it should be. Could be more internal opportunity communicated more broadly.
