I worked at Jersey City Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Co workers are great team to work with. Employees of all backgrounds are friendly.

    Cons

Management unorganized, allover the place with projects. No structure, stressful day to day office environment. Favoritism exists so don't rub them the wrong way.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic of your goals, don't expect your tiny staff to run numerous projects and run day to day duties.....at least pay fair after you break their backs. The cheerleader thank you don't pay the bills!

  8. Full of itself since becoming MAGNET

I have been working at Jersey City Medical Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Highest hourly pay in Northern NJ

    Cons

Doesn't value their staff. They overlook good talent in the name of being able to throw MAGNET status around, which is funny because their staff turnover is actually so high.

    Advice to Management

MAGNET isn't the way to improve your press ganey scores. Stop looking for bragging rights and actually consider keeping the hard working people you already have.

I have been working at Jersey City Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Senior Management is visible and involved in many activities. Also, there is not much micromanagement and they allow for innovation

    Cons

Salaries might be a little low. Too many people have a job simply based on who they know.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. I love the style of management there. It makes me want to work harder.

    Pros

Excellent opportunity to build your diagnostic skills and get exposure to a broad range of mental health issues and populations. A good learning opportunity working with interdisciplinary treatment providers. Pretty good starting salary and flexible hours. There is opportunities to move into others positions within the hospital.

    Cons

There is very little one on one time with senior staff to process cases. Senior staff initiates policy based on outlying incidences just to cover themselves. This just creates menial tasks for an already fast paced sometimes hectic environment. The ability to move up within the screening center is limited. Income becomes stagnant as there is only cost of living increases in salary.

    Advice to Management

    Provide more feedback on cases.

    Pros

The staff are great. From the CEO down to environmental services, everyone is welcoming and caring. Benefits are the best I've had at any job.

    Cons

Pay could be better, given the high cost of living, but I enjoyed going to work most days.
