JetBlue, Jet out of here !!!!

Customer Service (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

Prosflight benefits, exiting field of work, it is fun if you can overlook the crazyness and uncetainties of the industry but for sure the unfair politics will bring you down

Conson your feet all day and not allwed to sit down-leads have their click and they get away with anything and everything-if mgmt likes you then you're on your way but if for some reason they dislike you or anything you do they will find a way to make you look bad- you cannot trust leadership (and I use the term very loosely here) favoritism is the norm at jetblue and to top it all they make it seem like they hold their company's values true but they do not.

Advice to Senior Managementbe fair, say what you mean and mean what you say.
get back to the principles that were alive and real when the company started.
the only caring is for the profit of the company and to hell with the employees.
you can place mandatory overtime but you fail to let people leave early when it is not busy or have an urgent situation unless if benefits the company's bottom line nad penalize those who do have a life and need to be home to take care of their spouses, children or family members.

Oakland Jet Blue is a terrible place to work unless you are friends with management

Customer Service (Current Employee) Oakland, CA

ProsNeed to have a job. Get free airline travel.

ConsSenior management at oakland airport is terrible. They discriminate against anyone who is not a friend or family member of management.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit or go somewhere else.

Jetblue Jetblue: Good idea but poor planning

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Long Beach, CA

ProsExcellent fringe benefits. Ability to go where you want within the company.

ConsPoor company cohesivness. Poor selection of supervisors/managers that have little to no clue how to run the operation.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf they place a high emphasis not just on experience but education when hiring managers it would do them a lot of good. Also they need to learn that putting someone in a management position with little to no experience and expecting them to make everyone happy is not going to happen. They need to hire managers, not go out and find people to fill the role of a manager.

    Great company, no opportunities

Analyst (Current Employee) Forest Hills, NY

ProsFlight benefits and the ease of the commute to the headquarters in Forest Hills. You're reverse commuting so it's never a packed train. Sweet. A distant third is that people like the brand so it's easy to be proud of where you work.

ConsThe company is not disciplined and therefore promoted a lot of people early on and has since just stopped promoting. Period. Especially in the non-operational support areas. There is no middle management in many departments and a promotion from coordinator to Director does not seem realistic.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut the right people in the right jobs and get the wrong people off the bus already. This company has too many people who either don't know what they're doing, don't do it right, or just make their job harder than it really needs to be. Just because it's a young company does not mean we all have to be territorial and stake our claim. In fact, it should be quite the opposite.

    Love company culture

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Forest Hills, NY

ProsCompany culture is great. The Crewmembers here are very honest, understanding, and easy to work with. Company has a lot of entrepreneurial spirit.

ConsJetBlue is a small airline mentality that is slowly shifting towards big airline mentality. This process takes time and some managers & directors do not see the reasons why decisions are made a certain way. Some are quick to jump to conclusions and think negatively without finding out the full picture.

There is no feedback system in place to suggest improvement points for management. Performance appraisals are only performed downward (managers to staff) and not upward (staff to managers).

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter communicate with Crewmembers internally prior to releasing information to the public.

jetBlue a great place to work and to explore the world

Baggage Service Coordinator (Current Employee) New York, NY

Prosthe ability to be able to fly whenever you want to and whereever you want to (keeping in mind you are flying standby) anywhere in the jetBlue system and virtually anyhwere in the world on any airline that partners with jetBlue, the work environment is great and the support from management and co-workers is better than any job i've had

ConsThe attendance is a little bit strict, the fact that you're going to have to give up your weekends if your seniortiy is not high enough. Working on major holidays, and spending new year's eve at the job. Dealing with Irregular Operations (IROP's as we call them) and dealing with dissatisfied customers.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey're already going a great job, unlike other airlines cutting people they are trying to be different than the rest of the airline industry.

    Truly mixed feelings

Customer Service Agent. . and Their Was No Feedback Except Negative When and If It Ever Happened. (Former Employee) Boston, MA

ProsThe Benefits! The salary is relatvely better then the rest of the industry.

ConsUnexperience management. The head training liason didnt' even know how to work any of the Microsoft programms. How are you suppose to lead and train ifyou can't make a document.

Advice to Senior ManagementHow about we be on the same page. Don't say one thing to your employees and then a few months down the road say another thing. You lose major intergrity and resepect from your employees when you don't tell the truth .. Six months or a year!?
