    Pros

I worked at the JGH in the capacity of a Master's student and research assistant. The researcher-clinicians I worked with were very committed to their jobs and patients and very willing to collaborate with students in their research. I also appreciated the daily medical clinic hours for JGH staff to get medical checkups, prescriptions, and so on.

    Cons

No major downsides that I can think of. I'm grateful for my experiences as a student and employee.

    Advice to Management

Thank you to the JGH for its support of research and clinical excellence. I would have loved to work there as a clinician if I was staying in Montreal.

    Pros

Its a teaching hospital with a diverse population, there is a lot of unique learning opportunities for nurses. It's great place to finish your BSN if your college RN.

    Cons

It is important that to understand it is very easy to be part of rumors and gossip. especially if your knew, be very careful who you socialize with. Residents are notorious with trying to go out with new nurses.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with the clinical nurse educator, it demonstrate yourself being a proactive individual nurse.

    Pros

Fabulous sense of unity and purpose. Good benefits, including 4 weeks holiday, 9 sick days and 13 statutory holidays. Access to medical care as part of being on site. Flexible work schedule Fulfilling work, excellent output and ability to contribute

    Cons

Far from my home We work on a budget in an older building, thus suffer from thermo-regulation issues, old furniture etc. Food services close early.

    Advice to Management

Some streamlining, and review of infrastructure, should be reviewed.

Walking up the hill from the metro, finding parking takes a while, hospital can be confusing at first

    Pros

Coworkers are great to work with. My direct supervisor has years of experience in purchasing management, and it shows. It's also her that redirected me to a career in marketing/communication, a field that's way more appropriate for me than purchasing.

    Cons

Dealing with HR clerks. What a bunch of incompetent bureaucrats, that can't analyse a situation further than what's written. Fortunately, the head of department is much more alert and straightforward to deal with.

    Pros

The people theirs around the hospital know how to treat you like family. I felt like I was part of some big family outside my department. Except HR and Pharmacy everything else was amazing.

    Cons

The co-workers (Technicians and some Pharmacist) were amazing people to work with, the supervising staff were more of a bully type of people. Their job was to make peoples life really miserable. It got so bad that I end up having a burn out. I couldn't take their abusive attitude towards me anymore that I cracked and left without saying a proper good bye. I do miss the technicians and some other employees....

    Advice to Management

Try to be more sympatic to the employees were more then just a number, we are people who have families to feed and take care of. I find the upper managements are not qualified to manage a huge team especially Pharmacy where the chief Pharmacist doesn't give a crap of the people who works for her. If she can learn proper management and stop relying on other people then maybe that department has a chance...
