I worked at Jewish Home Lifecare as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The best part of working with Jewish Home was how close I felt with the patients. I made a goal to put a smile on their residents face because they were family to me.

    Cons

There is nit enough staff to cover the floors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should definite be more outings for the seniors like a day at Yankee Stadium or bowling night.

I worked at Jewish Home Lifecare

    Pros

Fellow employees are friendly and kind. Decent benefits and it all depends on location. Some management are nice.

    Cons

Benefit pricing has increased over the years. Some years little to no pay increase. Some management can be mean. You often won't get recognized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix management and pay attention to your employees.

I worked at Jewish Home Lifecare

    Pros

The staff was very pleasant and helpful.. They assisted me with new computer programs to access patient's personal history. A chance to communicate with nurses and case managers.

    Cons

Not enough room space for the department I was in. The office was too small. Tables too close to each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well, for the time I was there, they were making changes like down sizing some departments and where I was also.

I have been working at Jewish Home Lifecare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A "family-like" environment, supportive colleagues, wonderful residents, clients, patients and families, longevity of employees.

    Cons

Too many chiefs and not enough indians. It is challenging to perform work when you are constantly being called into meetings. Minutes to most meetings are not distributed. There is a clear lack of communication from the top down. Employee morale is terrible. Plans for long-term expansion exceed day-to-day staffing levels affecting quality of life for residents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to open communication to all staff. Stop sending mixed messages. Penny-wise and pound foolish.

I worked at Jewish Home Lifecare part-time

    Pros

The facility is well-staffed in administrative offices. There are many professional development opportunities. Staff is fairly communicative and IT is responsive.

    Cons

The facility could use some renovation. The company values are clear and most employees seem to truly accept and embody them, but some staff seem to be there just for their paycheck. Many floors are understaffed and CNAs/nurses need more support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give CNAs more opportunities for promotion and professional development.

    Pros

Very professional senior management. Thoughtful, sincere and confident. The senior managers have an exceptionally detailed knowledge of the residents in long term care.

    Cons

No significant "cons" seen so far.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the family-like but highly professional atmosphere. The culture is egalitarian, not hierarchical--collaborative while remaining respectful of advanced titles and authority. This is great for clinical work, I hope it continues!

I have been working at Jewish Home Lifecare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The Manhattan campus is centrally located and easy to get to.

    Cons

There is no room for growth in this company. Career paths are neither instituted nor can they be created. Whatever level you come in as that is where you will remain. Forget the concept of annual salary increases...that is an urban myth here. Unless you like to be over worked, EXTREMELY under paid, and OVERLY underappreciated, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember the importance of the people that work under you. They are valuable members of the team and showcase their value everyday. For every person that you undervalue there is a company that pays much more that will acknowledge and appreciate these individuals’ contributions. Be mindful that the recession will not last forever.
