Pros
Great coworkers, good customers, good hours, very store recovery in the evenings
Cons
Corporate changes their minds on products. One day you'll have a product that sales great and then they either change it or discontinue it.
Pros
If you are in with right people you job will be secure. It's a good stepping stone company. The brand is well known and respected.
Cons
High School cafeteria mentality. There are serveral cliques and " Queen Bee" types of people who have no little or no computer knowledge. Something as simple as sending something to the copier to print can become a major issue of the day. The 3 Stooges had better commuication. When you get on thier bad side chances are you to be let go very soon or be driven out by pure misery. For such a small office the egos are very huge.
Advice to Senior Management
There should be a HR dept in the New York office as well. HR people in Kenosha are quick to say how they aren't in the office to witness the behaivour that you want to file a complaint agianst. The higher maganement is more feared than respected.
Pros
-benefits (ave)
-privately held
-professed concern for the customer
-fair pay
-pockets of really smart people to work with
-family atmosphere (although quickly fading)
-some great people work in company retail stores
Cons
-way too many VP's - without ability to lead (true good ol' boys club). Other companies would have rid themselves of the lack of results instead they remain and drag the future of the company.
-satisfied with mediocrity across the board
-company isn't about the brand - it's about price then product
-slooow to identify threats/barriers and slooow to implement
-anecdotal info goes way too far in making changes within the company
Advice to Senior Management
Take an honest look at your Senior Leadership ask yourselves who has moved the company forward in people development, sales results and truly kept the founder's vision alive; then make the painful decision to thank those who have been successful IN THE PAST and move on. Then aggressively recruit fresh/new talent and train your existing talent that has promise.
Rediscover the brand
Pros
The best reasons to work for Jockey International are superior management, praised for your efforts and the training you receive in product knowledge and sales.
Cons
The only downside would be that customers are looking more these days at where the clothing is made. They are not 100 % satisfied that most of Jockeys merchandise is made in other countries.
Advice to Senior Management
Schedules should be posted a month in advance. We all live very busy lives and our families are always going to be our reason to work outside the home. It would help tremendously to be able to plan further in advance for time with our families. And the schedules should only be changed after posting to accommodate for sickness, deaths or emergencies. ( A person could be listed as on call each week in these cases).
Pros
Good Benefits. Good People. Quality Product. Good Technology. Company committment to success. Quarterly bonuses. Decent salary. Open Door Policy. Location, happens to be very close to my home.
Cons
Loss of Family atmosphere. Lack of internal communication. Certain supervisors lack of respect for employees. Double standards obvious in certain Supervisors. Certain supervisors unobvious retalliation.
Advice to Senior Management
Show individual recognition within your department more often. Show your immediate employees respect. Bring back the Family atmosphere. Words of praise always seem to motivate good employees.
Pros
Daily comic relief from decisions made by leadership.
Cons
Risk Averse
Not Consumer-centric
Poor strategy...wait...they didn't even have a business strategy
Driven by their channels, not their Brand
Pros
Management was respectful to all associates, it's a team work environment.
Cons
Location is far from Chicago, slow paced living environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to inspire the team through a balance of work and family life
Pros
Ships product you sell
pro-family atmosphere
generally "good" people to work with
Cons
New ideas on how to do business are discouraged.
Upper management "out of touch" with consumers
Advice to Senior Management
Current management team has been there for over 10 years and should be refreshed.
Pros
Teamwork environment. Good management and benefits. Treated employees with respect and courtesy. managemet handeled things in a very orderly manner.
Cons
Have only one description for downsides. Good company to work for, but the plant shut down and moved company to Honduras.
Advice to Senior Management
Think more about the welfare of your employees and families before moving companies to other countries.
Pros
Best work life balance ever experienced!
Cons
Need to embrace more forward and aggressive approach
Advice to Senior Management
Be open and honest in feedback to your employees. Be sure that all are recognized for their strengths!
