I worked at Joe's American Bar & Grill part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You get to sample the entire menu during training. The fun ends there.

    Cons

Management was awful. Working at Joes was like being in high school again. It's a giant clique where you're either in or you're out. Hazing was an everyday occurrence, and you really need to earn the right of passage in order to survive. Also If a customer walks out without paying part of their bill, you're expected to cover the remainder from your tips. Workers rights are violated, and managers violate legality in order to save their own ass.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company needs to do some housekeeping.

I worked at Joe's American Bar & Grill

    Pros

Could make great tips if you work there a very long time, wait out the turnover, and get on management's good side

    Cons

As a beginner, I was only allowed to work in area's they did not seat unless everywhere else was full. Twice, I had shifts without a single table, yet I was made to stay, and sometimes not allowed to clock in for periods of this time. I made a very very low wage per hour, something like 3 or 4 dollars, and was not compensated when I didn't have tables from which to make tips. Management did not care, did not rotate, and was often rude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please, your servers are human! Rotate us, stop playing favorites, and give us more training. Following a server for 3 shifts was useless, as the server was goofing off the whole time and would not help me learn.

    Pros

The entire mission of this restaurant ws to give our guests the greatest dining experience possible. The management there were great at communicating to all employees. The rules were fair throughout the establishment

    Cons

The only thing was the requesting time off. We had a calendar book to sign our names in, but once there were three names no one else could ask off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thank you for being such great leaders and managers. I would change nothing about you all. Only to the senior and owner of the chain.
