Benefits, comp and management need serious work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsInteresting company, makes exciting products.

ConsCompensation is below market and benefits are very expensive. The good people fly out the door and only the "leftovers" stay behind...

Closed our Facility in Cranston RI.

    CNC Operator (Former Employee)
    Cranston, RI

ProsGood work environment which was in place when they purchased the previous employer, EG&G Sealol, good at providing tooling and anything you needed to produce product.

ConsEventual elimination of all Union employee shops after Smiths Group llc purchased John Crane led to our demise. Management knew we were closing a year before we were shutdown and told management in our building not to disclose it to any branches until two or three months before we closed.

Advice to Senior ManagementHow are your HTC and split seal product doing two years after you closed us down? Do your customers know about our closing?

John Crane is an industry leader and has held majority of market share for decades. Very good medium sized company.

    Design Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsDesign engineering was interesting. Learned about hydraulics and component design. Many hats, design, analysis, test, customer support, customer visits.

ConsWould like to have been on more customer sites, installing product, trouble-shooting performance issues. That is the best way to understand the customer and the performance of the product.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    FORMER employees liked it???

    Sales Engineer (Current Employee)
    Morton Grove, IL

ProsYou can put in your 40 hours and be done without too much pressure.

ConsPay is ironically lowest in the industry, considering they are the "industry leader" in sealing. Benefits are being stripped away little by little. They're now trying to bribe employees by offering $3,000 for referring qualified talent. Talk about desperation! And why are all the positive reviews on here from FORMER employees???

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat the people lining your pockets with RESPECT! Why are so many people quitting? Open your eyes.

Great stepping stone to the refining industry.

    Mechanical Engineering Intern (Former Employee)

ProsYou learn the engineering and business involved in refineries. Flexible schedule and good pay.

ConsYou have to be proactive, and willing to learn on your own. The engineering department spends most of it's time with customers and the other engineers that are on-site.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more time training or at least keeping up with the development of the interns and new CRE hires.
