Current Employee – been working at Johns Hopkins part-time for more than a year
Pros – -the name/reputation of course
-amaaazing benefits..health/dental/pharm coverage pays for so much
-a lot of opportunities to stay in the company and move around since Hopkins' name is everywhere (ie Bayview, JHU, Suburban, JH Community Physicians etc..)
Cons – -staff is treated horribly, especially the nurses. Mostly its the scheduling/staffing of the floor. Too many patients per nurse= patient care goes down= patient conditions deteriorate
-the budget is cut down to the bare bones, causing staff shortages (see above)
Advice to Senior Management – fix the budget! Put the money in the most important place....your employees! What's it matter if the hospital gets a new, top-of-the-line MRI machine if there's no money left over to hire someone to operate it?
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Johns Hopkins full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Fantastic place to work, great facilities, flexible hours at some departments, including mine (Electrical Engineering). Great infrastructure. There is enough opportunity for growth.
Cons – Low payment, bad parking facility. The city is not great as such, full of crime. There is safety issues around the Medical Campus, although it is less of a concern around Homewood.
Advice to Senior Management – Parking facilities can be improved
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Johns Hopkins full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – -Feel like you are affecting real-world change.
-Are part of a very large community.
-Good benefits and resources.
-The emphasis on diversity and acceptance in all forms is the best I have ever seen.
Cons – -Often decentralized with lack of communication between silos.
-Can find one's self in a dead-end if not careful.
-Things can move very slowly in a career path, particularly with salaries.
Advice to Senior Management – Share more at all levels and allow those at all levels occasional access to leadership.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
