Pros
Some great people to work with.
Benefits package was great.
My salary was really good.
My commute was excellent
Cons
The people they put in management positions were micro managers, they were disrespectful and downright mean. The work had grown but they didn't increase the staff to do the work and got mad at all of the employees for not being able to keep up. HR was non existent. And when you went to the VP she pretended to care but she really didn't. There's very much a feeling of "be happy you have a job now go do it" in that office. I have to say I'm very happy to be out of there!
Advice to Senior Management
It doesn't matter what advice you give they aren't going to change anything anyway. So if you as an employee see and opportunity to break free of shawshank I say take it!!
Pros
Training, training, training....big on employee development.
Cons
Train, train, train, and then don't compensate the employee adequately....and lose the talent to some other company.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut out all the redundant reports.
Pros
Johnson Controls employs over 140,000 employees and therefore highly regards its employees as its most vital resource, however, being a large organization, it takes significant effort to effect change and impact the organization.
Cons
The Building Efficiency side of the business is slow to react to changing market. Ingenuity Welcome tagline is not emphasized in recruiting, but recognized when appropriate.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize and compensate high performers to ensure talent retention. Develop a management training program for all supervisors, managers, and directors; focus on employee engagement and satisfaction.
Pros
Top management is showing the right path to succeed
Cons
Quality needs to be improved. Everybody needs to involve in cost saving projects
Pros
room for upward mobility based on performance
Cons
upper management needs to be more involved
Advice to Senior Management
upper management needs to be more involved
Pros
great people to work with in the manila office. dedicated and focused
Cons
profit margins below 8% has a huge impact in bonuses and salaries. resulting to more work sent to manila for cost cutting measures
Advice to Senior Management
facilitate / invest more on IT in terms of resources and technologies to enable it to further improve service and technology integration
Pros
Great coworkers. Benefits and holidays. If you like working long hours (50) and don't get expected to be paid. Johnson Controls Largo is it.
Cons
Mad house to work in. Very Chaotic. No family life. You are expected to work 50 hours or plus hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Change you plant leadership. This place will shutdown due to management and technical incompetence.
Pros
Some nice people work for the company.
Cons
Bad training, they tell you that there is a 2 year plan with opportunity to make money and advance then they change there mind with in a couple of months and it's all gloom and doom. They tell you that you will get a mentor and it never happens. They put you through 4 months of training and count those 4 months agents you for not making sales. They have a computer program called Nexgen that is a joke it never works and is super confusing. They don't give you a car allowance or very little for a car allowance. They claim to have high ethics and safety but their full of it it's all talk. Middle management has no back bone they are out to CYA and will not back you. Really think twice before going to work for these clowns as a sales person they put tons of obstacles in the way of making sales.
Advice to Senior Management
Be truthful, help people, don't be so concerned about CYA and don't do group lay offs. At least give people the dignity to have a personal one on one meeting. I did not need to see good people cry and heart broken. That was a coward move have some class.
Pros
good pay
good professional resources/colleagues
good re-investment of profits into growing the company
good ethics
Cons
most projects are the same - interest/challenge tends to drop as time goes on
not a drawing production house
company farms too much professional consulting out - i.e. this position is a paper pusher
too many mouse clicks to do the most simple things within the company
People with HVAC design background moving into the energy side will feel that is a step down although those individuals are the perfect fit to do the energy side properly.
Advice to Senior Management
Do more work inhouse, farm less out, and standardize calc tools
Pros
JCI is a great place to learn and grow in your career. They have excellent products and are very strategic in their approach to the market.
Cons
JCI is a large company and with that comes the cons. It can be difficult to complete tasks that should be simple and there are a lot of processes, some of which seem unnecessary.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, communication is good throughout the organization. Recognition for jobs well done should be a large part of the culture. Creating workplace satisfaction could go a long way for retaining top talent.
