I have been working at Johnson Controls as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Great chance to develop new skills, grow in career, network and meet people, be challenged and explore opportunities

    Cons

Hard to get a full-time job when you start as an intern. No benefits as an intern and no chance of a raise

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring on the people you've invested time and money on and don't leave them hanging

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The compensation was very good, above average in general. Bonus was also good when there was one. There is definitely room for growth and promotions in the company but it seems like there are more opportunities if you work in the head quarter in Milwaukee, WI as its the common case for companies.

    Cons

Lot of overtime hours if you are in the Automotive business. At the end, the automotive business was sold to Visteon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more training for the employees. Benefits can also be better.

I have been working at Johnson Controls as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

As an intern considering applying for full-time employment at JCI I have seen various parts of the business for over a year. Johnson Controls has:great benefits, a very nice working environment, positive sense of community, and helpful employees. Management is very keen on employee feedback as well from what I've seen.

    Cons

My only con is they are understaffed. Even as an intern I found myself working later than expected. Additionally, I have noticed that most directors have moved from other positions - many people have worked their way up to manager through JCI, but it seems like they reach out to other companies for most leadership roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most salary employees great people, but overworked.

    Cons

Poor safety, nonexistent quality, no/little training (trial by fire), mgmt working in silos and don't have clear plan. Do your homework and really learn about the place if you want to work here. It is not for the average. Be prepared to work long hours and weekends and by yelled at/ micro managed constantly. Personally, I'd never work there again if the opportunity was given.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the "beat 'em up" mgmt style within mgmt/ salary group, be fair, get a real plan. Improve moral and safety and quality culture. Stop working in little click groups.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Most the people were decent

    Cons

Advancement, Shady Management and Shady business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize the talent in the people that you have. Do not let people who are qualified sit around and do below their potential, while you let those who are unqualified or cannot handle things move into positions. Also recognize that everyone is different-- some people work more efiiciently than others. Also, provdie opportunities for challenges if your employee states that is what they need. Otherwise, you will continue to lose valuable people just as you have been.

A lot of 2nd generation Jci people which makes it very difficult for ppl from outside to blend in.
    A very beurocratic environment overall.
Almost All employees have a very low morale.
