    Pros

    Professional, friendly, and challenging assignments.

    Cons

Trying to accept to design to unreasonable customer specs, and the location was far from home.

    Advice to Management

To limit brands to few designs to control cost and parts inventory.

    Pros

Lots of experience to be had

    Cons

Not a lot of Coach to Win. Extra work is expected but never rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. It seems as though there is no hope for advancement from within the company. Only to acquire the experience and move on to another company.

    Pros

Great people to work with! Very much like one "big family" when you work there and even after leaving I still have contact with my former colleagues and they're great! I visit there occasionally and they're always very welcoming, almost like I never left!
Great place to learn for me since I was afforded a lot of flexibility to grow in my own role.
    Healthcare benefits are superb!
Wayne location is great, KOP mall near by and Valley Forge.
Compensation and Bonus package is pretty good.
When promotion are done, 99% of the time they are for people that deserve it and it makes you feel like management really does recognize great work.

    Cons

Promotions are hard to come by, but they do exist.
Vacation/Sick leave for US employees is not that great.
Some union workers don't care about the job that much and make sloppy mistakes which make it harder for you to do your work. Also costs the company money.

    Advice to Management

JM was a great place to work. I was lucky to have a great boss and great colleagues that I learned a lot from. I can definitely say that my experience here has allowed me to grow in my career tremendously. Keep those great people you have and especially the good managers by rewarding and recognizing them fairly. Good luck JMers!!

    Pros

Employees, below the management level, are generally hard workers and care about their work.

    Cons

Stated culture and values are not consistent with actual culture and values. Many senior leaders have been in their positions for years and have an incredible sense of entitlement. There is a serious lack of accountability for poor leadership behavior and the manner in which employees are treated.

Employees who are "long service" are placed in positions where they have no formal training or experience. This extends to the Director level and makes it difficult to take these "leaders" seriously.

    Advice to Management

    Honesty and integrity matter.

    Pros

Union, decent pay and lots of overtime when it is busy

    Cons

a little clicky. Because it is a union everything is based on seniority and not on work ethic. This means that some employees do not pull their weight

    Advice to Management

Middle management can be a oblivious to what is going on sometimes. Need better lines of communication

    Pros

International company which is on the lean side as far as number of employees. This allows individuals to advance as well as learn multiple aspects of the company. Benefits are great.

    Cons

People tend to stay a long time at Johnson Matthey so new ideas are sometimes overlooked or you need multiple players to get buy in. Salary compensation is on the low side compared to similar companies depending on where you live.
