Pros
Variety of work and opportunities, given multiple companies.
Cons
Do more with less mentality, internal churn.
Advice to Senior Management
Less internal work, and more focus on customers and patients.
Pros
Good pay and benefits with company store discounts.
Cons
Heavy work load, no says thank you or good job. You can never do good enough for the big medical giant.
Advice to Senior Management
Prepare to take a beating when coming into the company, very stressful environment with constant change and poor management.
Pros
Employee Perks were acceptable, vacations and sick days were appropriate
Cons
Salary was way below market average. Permotion oppertunity non existant.
Pros
Global organization with many business units offers diverse career growth opportunities in numerous roles. Like many big pharma companies, J&J offers excellent salary and benefits.
Cons
Downsides of working at J&J include short-term focus on profitability to satisfy Wall Street, lack of internal communication, excessive bureaucracy, and frequent turnover or restructuring of brand teams and sales forces which has created quality issues and disconnect with customers.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice includes more visibility and vision from senior management to increase employee engagement, morale and dedication to quality and customer-focus.
Pros
Salary, benefits, strong name on your resume
Cons
Company's reputation and inertia to solve problems
Advice to Senior Management
Fix company's reputation
Pros
Fantastic view of the city, great opportunity to learn the in's and out's of a huge and complex corporation and the skills needed to work cooperatively with a marketing team.
Cons
Very little room to expand influence beyond production work, very little opportunity to do portfolio-building work, very few changes to move beyond a contract employee.
Advice to Senior Management
I'd suggest the leadership strives to be honest with the contract designers about their role in the office and their value to the GSDO organization.
Pros
The pay was very good and the amount of independence was remarkable.
Cons
I often didn't have work to do.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the interns more work to stop them from being bored.
Pros
Johnson & Johnson has a tremendous history. The company is guided by a Credo which has served it very well for many decades.
Cons
The company has strayed from its Credo in recent years. Exectations on middle management is opressive. Benefits were previously very good but have been dramatically cut over the past several years.
Advice to Senior Management
Please read and apply the Credo. If you find that you are not aligned to the credo then other companies would be a better fit for you. This company was great becasue it had a core belief that it used to guide it.
Pros
- Down to earth but highly motivated people
- Good work culture, a corporate credo to bond all employees
- Reasonable compensation particularly at senior levels; good pension
- Important and leading role within the healthcare business
Cons
- Challenging organizational structure
- Accountability can sometimes be weak
- Difficult to be recognized in the crowd
- Career advancement and growth can be slow at junior levels
Pros
*A lot of great experience from people that are very deleted in their field and know what they are talking about.
Cons
Most people do not get a full time offer and have to apply to the GOLD program or FLDP which are rotational programs.
