    Pros

J&J prides itself on allowing each company under it's umbrella to operate autonomously. This allows for many opportunities to further your career

    Cons

Going through a lot of restructuring.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people on the trenches - sales people and District Managers.

  2. Company with a great reputation in the industry, as a whole they support personal development if budget allows.

    Pros

    - Great reputation in the industry
    - Large organization that can foster a lifelong career
    - Pretty good work / life balance

    Cons

    - Different departments have very different cultures
    - Not so easy to move around in the organization to foster career development
    - Some great bosses and some not so great bosses
    - Career advancement reserved for a "chosen few"

    Advice to Management

Senior Management should investigate why some departments have very little advancement or transfers from their groups in such long periods of time. Some managers are made to feel they have no opportunity of advancement and if they want change then they should just leave the company.

    Pros

People are pretty nice. Pay and benefits are good. Investment in techonology (systems) is also very good.

    Cons

I've only been here a short time but so far I get the feeling that although each group's work has a tremendous affect on other groups, there is little collaboration. The work right now seems much easier than what it should be for the job level and the challenge appears to be the ability to get it done based on unrealistic lead times. More collaboration and communication is definitely needed along with a vision of how things could be. There is also a high need to look at end-to-end processes and drive through best practices.

    Advice to Management

Be more visible to the people doing the work. Encourage (and even pressure) the groups to work together. Perhaps setting up self-managed teams would be helpful.

    Pros

Pay is very good, as have been bonuses (up to now at least). At least in my department, working from home is possible as is flex time.

    Cons

Recognition for one's efforts is very slow to come or non-existent. Upper management is totally out-of-touch with the needs and moral of employees. Even though annual surveys give to employees repeated show declining morale, nothing visible is being done.

Johnson & Johnson is reorganizing and merging some departments at different sites. This is causing a great number of headaches and is not being handled well locally.

    Advice to Management

Don't give lip service to employees, actually listen. Do more planning before attempting "harmonization".

    Pros

Very flexible. Great work/life balance. Lots of opportunity for advancement and growth.

    Cons

Processes are always changing. Lots of systems to learn.

    Advice to Management

Minimize the number changes in processes. It can be hard to keep up.

    Pros

    Our products make lives better

    Cons

    Have no autonomy
    Only Senior management make decisions
Priorities are not where they should be
Tremendous lack of creativity and ability to listen, no belief in us

    Advice to Management

Grow the topline and stop cost cutting, the market knows what we are doing, look at our stock price. Go back to empowering your people, allow managers to manage and directors to direct.

    Pros

Work life balance is great! Flexible work hours which enable you to either work from home or in the office. Free gym and classes available to employees as well! There is a sense of working for the greater good when working in this company, and so there is pride when working.

    Cons

There can be some internal politics, as it can be tough to work with people outside of your own department. At times you can feel as if you are just one in a cast of thousands.....and so recognition of your achievements can be far and between.

    Advice to Management

Focus on eliminating silos and improving communication between departments

    Pros

    Has good Credo ideals
    Big structure and support
Has many good employees and policies

    Cons

Those who talk loudest get heard more than those who talk sense
Cronyism. Senior management selected for technical know-who rather than know how. Over-representation from one European country
    Credo hotline is a farce
Sycophants with no clue on how to get things done gets on top of the real dedicated employees

    Advice to Management

Many people are suffering under the tyranny of a few who are connected to the top. HR is not doing much but protecting their own turf

    Pros

Graduate school tuition, great place to learn clinical trial and other enterprise software, also great place to network with clinical trial professionals from all over the world.

    Cons

My coworkers are often spreadout all over the world so I don't have normal work experience of dealing face to face with coworkers and bosses.

    Pros

A good place to work, nice environment - free tea and coffee, squash, competent colleagues. Remuneration and bonus useful, nice location.

    Cons

The manglement from Belgium. Interference in day-to-day running with no idea of what was actually needed to get the job done. a on-size-fits-all approach.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people doing the job, rather than having meetings with them and ignoring what is said in favour of who pays you most to use their software.
