    Cons

Has the instability of pharmaceuticals so things are always shifting in terms of budgets and roadmaps.

    Pros

    Great Brand Equity on Resume
    Nice Employee Events

    Cons

    Subpar pay
    lacks meaningful structure
    does not provide superior training
    fragmented culture
    very "process" oriented
fast followers instead of innovate leaders
    no work life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest when recruting candidates and carefully select managers. Everyone who drives business results is not neccessariy cut out for people management. Since the credo is so important, members of the company should be a reflection of it.

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Middle management representatives are knowledgeable and will stress procedures to maintain company standards. Employees and Contractors are required to take knowledge refreshers on an annual basis. For employees, great benefits, relaxed dress code and good work\life balance. The company seems to go out of its way for full time staff members. If you want to learn about formal project management and see it in practice, this is the place to be. Raritan\Morris Plains Campuses are comfortable and well designed

    Cons

If you are a contractor, you are a replaceable resource and nothing more. Resources are frequently stretched and it is not unusual for contractors to be pulled to multiple projects. Work\life is good for employees because contractors get the grunt work. Political and cultural bias, depending on the group that you are in, certainly exists and is practiced openly. Hard work will be recognized by some managers, but compliments don't come frequently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I applaud management's efforts to make the environment friendly and comfortable for employees. Hopefully, they will recognize that contractors contribute to the success of the company and should receive some recognition for their efforts. I would also suggest that management take a realistic look at their environment and "talk to everyone" if they really want to improve diversity and team work.

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunity to move about different companies within J&J. Top notch facilities and training. Hire highly qualified individuals. Credo. Good place to work if you are recruited or brought in by current management team in your area of expertise. Adequate compensation. Good benefits and 401-k program.

    Cons

Need to be an "accepted" member within the management team that is politically in charge of your department to survive the numerous cost saving cut backs/job eliminations. Age "issues" prior to and once you reach 55. Bonus structures geared to Director level and above, i.e. stocks, stock RSU's or Options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are a lot of excellent employees forced to leave J&J due to cut backs and their expertise leaves with them. Hiring consultants to avoid benefits and overhead not necessarily best method to correct inefficiencies.

I worked at Johnson & Johnson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and lots of diverse businesses.

    Cons

JNJ can be quite rigid at times, and it's hard to collaborate between the many operating companies. JNJ is also run by the bean counters, and decisions that they make don't always make sense to the rest of us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Question the finance numbers and what they tell you to do. Does it pass the red face test? Are there hard to quantify variables (like quality!) that are not considered? Too often, JNJ doesn't think past the $$$.

    I worked at Johnson & Johnson full-time

    Pros

J&J has a massive consumer business, which includes skin care, oral care, over-the-counter products and baby care. But it also has a high-profit pharmaceutical business, with products in immunology, pain management, oncology and oncology. And of course, J&J has a thriving medical devices and diagnostics business.

    Cons

J&J has issued more than 50 drug and device recalls as the company has experienced problems with its manufacturing system. This has been a major distraction and a hit to the company’s reputation. Also, the efforts to pull off the Synthes deal may suggest even less focus on solving its quality-control problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    keep it up
