    Good, solid company

I have been working at Jostens full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

New leadership is making a lot of positive changes, they are forward thinking, and it is exciting.

    Cons

Opportunities in rep territories are not always balanced - in the same geographical areas. Reps should have equal prospective volume of schools to call on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the work you are doing. It is appreciated.

I have been working at Jostens

    Pros

Jostens is now a good place for a starter job...not a long-term career. If you are fresh out of college or come from a career with little pay...this is a great job for you. You get to work very hard to meet your regional manager's goals so they can keep their job and build their retirement plan, while you go into debt with the company. Then after 3-5 years you can leave with a "sales job" on your resume for something more long term.

    Cons

Jostens and now Herff Jones are both on the path of mass destruction. Both are now owned by investment companies who will suck any profits out of them and spit them out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to Visant. Get rid of Jostens current leadership...all the way down to regional managers. They are all white-old "good ol boys" with huge egos who love to talk about their glory days of playing high school football. As long as Visant keeps these guys around the ship will continue to sink and the good reps will leave for better opportunities.

I have been working at Jostens

    Pros

The location is local to Twin Cities.

    Cons

Management is hired based on family ties and not professional skills.
Executive team consists of mainly 50-60 year old white men hoping to stick it out until retirement for their payout.
Leadership has no understanding or connection with their employees or their customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean out the executive team and bring in new people that care about the employees and customers. Your turnover rate is explanation enough for the dissatisfaction felt by your employees. Your dropping sales numbers are explanation enough for the dissatisfaction felt by your customers. Authentic left the building 2 years ago.

I have been working at Jostens full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Culture is great at Jostens, the dress code is very laid back and revolves around dress for you day.
The Management at Jostens is willing to help individuals that need assistance, but not over-bearing or try and micro management everything that you do.

    Cons

Communication is sometimes lacking between departments and emails are left unanswered for important projects or incidents.
Job descriptions are changed on the fly sometimes for people, depending on the work required and no form of compensation is provided or discussed for additional roles and responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Providing a better picture for employees for a roadmap to their career and better year-end reviews. Give supportive and useful feedback for what can be done to help an employee progress in their career.
