Laid back, fun small family environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsVery laid-back, start up feel.

    ConsCompensation should've been more competitive.

Great culture and place to work, or at least it used to be.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

    Pros- Great people
    - Company cares about it's employees
    - Opportunity to grow and be promoted
    - Decent base salary

Cons- Slow creative process and overpriced for clients
    - Corporate buyouts (HFM and then Hearst) have hurt the culture
    - Commission/bonus structure is a joke
    - Fallout from the corporate buyout caused most the good people to leave

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to the way it used to be prior to HFM/Hearst. Employees were happier and things actually got done.

Lots of fun, responsibility and rewarding to a pro-active person, not a place to hide

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsYou definitely have to own whatever it is you do. There aren't layers of people double checking your work and there is very little bureaucracy to keep you from driving improvements or change. Very laid back environment that encourages socializing and team building. Fit is important here.

ConsLimited career advancement opportunity, somewhat less clear vision and focus recently, information should be shared better in such a small company. Small things slip through the cracks, but that's where personal responsibility and follow up come into play.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have great people who know how lucky they are to work in such a great environment, they need vision, leadership, direction and empowerment to make this an even better place.

    Great opportunity

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsJumpstart puts your professional growth first, providing extensive training in all areas of the digital advertising space. A comfortable work environment with a knowledgeable staff.

ConsJumpstart represents only automotive sites which can be limiting if you want experience with a wider range of publishers, if not the downsides are minimal.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement does a great job of keeping the company informed about changes in infrastructure and maintaining communication with its employees.

    Satisfied

ProsGreat place to make an impact with your ideas. Leading the industry with technical tools and work arounds to accomplish goals.

ConsCompensation plans are not straight forward. Communication from headquarters is weak and inconsistent.

    Advice to Senior ManagementKeep going

Great company - but needs to realize their focus is both a strength and a weakness

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Royal Oak, MI

ProsSmall, friendly and casual atmosphere. Many young people with lots of enthusiasm. Digital media is one of the fastest growing sectors in marketing. Transparent re: company goals and financials, really try to be inclusive with all employees.

ConsCan be difficult to keep lines of communication open between remote offices and headquarters, some inter-function tension, people don't always see how they contribute to big picture.

Advice to Senior ManagementEnable more information sharing between remote offices, better enable sharing of skills across departmental boundaries.

Weak management but lot's of toys around to play with

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCentral lobby in office full of toys to keep you unbored: ping pong tables, xbox, wii, magazines, etc.
    Central location in SF

ConsJumpstart's office is divided in "male" and "female" depending on the area of work. If you happen to work on the "guy" side of the office (IT, Sales) you're fine because there's nothing but good ol'camaraderie. If you're in the "female" side of the office (Marketing) then brace yourself for a toxic environment.

Advice to Senior Managementintermix the office, intermix the managers, conduct a satisfaction survey amongst employees and take action based on feedback.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
