Pros
Company in principle, is a good place to work. It is still a very nimble player and has lot of opportunity to grow, while being a fairly stable place to work, where you don't have to worry about losing the job because of a bad quarter.
Cons
Management starting from first level all the way to executives seem to be self-serving, with no interest to solve some of the issues that are dogging the company. Repeated mentioning of issues to management falls into deaf ears. Company has had some 15+ reorgs in last 5 years and most of them if not all have been geared towards promoting someone in the guise of streamlining. They do things, then undo the same things all the in the name of reorgs. Upper management really blind to the real issues that are haunting the company and use random methods to fix them. Lot of dilbertian style management cliches floated around.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up before it's too late. You are not that great that you can rest on your laurels. It won't be too long before people look at juniper as a bad quality products if you continue this path. Promote competency and give people a reason to feel proud of their work.
Pros
very ambitious but quite good balanced between requirements and compensation
Cons
very fast growing company, organizational structure and processes are not able to follow at this speed
Advice to Senior Management
keep an eye on offering career development options for System Engineers
Pros
One gets to learn and see lot of innovative stuff in networking.
Cons

Advice to Senior Management

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
I joined as it was a growing company making leaps and bounds in the networking space and promised of growth and opportunities and I wanted to make some changes in my career to get that next level of growth and leadership. The company is solid in terms of the products that get to market - a true talent treasure trove with awesome innovative and great products and services.
Cons
This is specific to IT at Juniper Networks - but overall - as in any company - IT is considered a cost center and also with the inability to move at the speed of business - also one of the least funded. While this is not particular to Juniper, Senior management's lack of leadership, vision, strategy or the ability to highlight and promote to get senior exec buy-in - there is no way we can succeed. Additionally for the last 2 years - IT has become more of a power game - who has the largest teams, who gets to push around whom - rather than the focus on what we can do to improve Juniper's operational capabilities and capacities. Employees are the least valuable resource - more like a sweat shop than a company that values talent.
Pros
no one knows whats going on so can call in sick and take time off while being paid
Cons
talent is not rewarded in operations supply chain logistics
Advice to Senior Management
hire qualified employees
Pros
Best reason to be at Juniper are the products and engineeriing; it is an engineering centric company. Also, it is easy to get in the door as most companies are looking outside Cisco for solutions. Juniper will continue to take market share for awhile...
Cons
Service Provider side is strong. Enterprise side is weak. Turn-over is high on enterprise side and only 1/3 of the entire organization makes their on-target earnings. What is surprising is you have roughly as many account managers below 50% of plan as at or above 100% of OTE. This company is not a place to make money on the enterprise side although some "blow it out" due to luck of the draw.
Advice to Senior Management
Slow down and think.
Pros
good work.
always new and knowledable.
Cons
You should be Manager freindly..
No Promotions and Pay not upto the mark
Pros
The general atmosphere in engineering seems agreeable, with a significant amount of brainstorming to solve problems and engineers being being able to work around their outside commitments.
Cons
The downside of the flexibility in working hours is that people feel obliged to work on weekends, not least because of the scheduling of deliverables.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management should try asking middle management and experts about the effects of their "good ideas" before they force implementation of those "ideas."
Pros
Engineering driven company with lot happening from India center
Cons
Senior Management in India is not very competent and because of poor hiring process recent hired talent is not good.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on hiring and make sure best people enter the engineering team. Some of the failures I saw during my tenure was purely attribute to talent company is hiring.
