I worked at Juniper Networks (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great engineering and product teams with a vision. solid market share in service prover routing and a new promising MX platform that can carry them for several years

    Cons

Execution, execution, execution. taking on too many projects leads to many product delays. Have also lost too much of their talent in recent years. in addition they have too much "management by consensus" which hampers decision-making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regroup around core capabilities, markets and customers. And build-up marketing again to address target markets after the marketing debacle between 2010 and 2012

    Pros

Juniper pays fairly decent. The people here are also great to work with. The technology and products are great and make you want to come to work.

    Cons

While the people get along Juniper still doesn't run like a well oiled machine.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent technology
Top-notch engineers - Development, Support, etc
Sometimes Juniper's direction is down-right visionary
Very professional environment (more than most)
    Excellent facilities, culture, and perks

    Cons

Unfocused: e.g. We acquired companies then dropped them
    Painfully political at times
Volitile, at times even unstable. Your project, product, or job might disappear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Every one of you is excellent. However, you occassionally have some awkwardness working with each other. Follow-through on your best ideas, even when the market gets unnerving. Acquire companies only if you are certain the talent/products fit with a long-term strategy -- and follow through! Otherwise, whenever possible, develop the solution in-house; again, you have some of the finest talent in the industry.
