I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture is mostly open, transparent, and generally positive. The company recognizes the value of employees and supports and invests in them. There are available resources and opportunities for career development and growth. Compensation and benefits are among the best in the industry. Work/life balance is good and flexible.

    Cons

The company has been through a lot of changes and challenges in recent years including 3 CEO's in 3 years, many re-orgs and this has negatively impacted many people across the organization, including a lot of hiring and firing/RIF's. I left last year, but with Rami as CEO now, things appear to be stabilizing and going in a better direction.

    Advice to Management

    1. Keep the whole company focused on a clear vision and strategy, with clear and open communication on progress and challenges. 2. Continue hire the best talent, to invest in career development resources at all levels, and promote from within.

    Pros

This is a great place to work. The technical background of co-workers and level of work provided is great. Juniper offers fairly good work and life balance as well.

    Cons

There does not seem to be much of an upward potential here as most folks are fairly senior and well settled. The salary increments and bonuses are nothing much to speak of.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very people-focused (human capital!); extremely generous with pay, benefits, training, onboarding-you name it; great work environment; great management; dedicated to employee success; flexible work space (remote or on-site); has two cafeterias, gym and gym reimbursement (too many benefits to name). Management really wants to see its employees do well, keep them with the company and promote them and give them breadth opportunities, as well. They are committed to their employees. They don't do b.s. performance reviews. It's all about how YOU are doing versus what you'd set out to do early in the year... No canned upper management reviews with the obligatory "thanks for all you do"... Can't tell you how many times I saw that by every manager at my previous company. The reviews there didn't matter - you were a number. NOT HERE!!

    Cons

Depends on the department. Some are more frenetic than others. Everyone works very hard, but they are all very nice while working. Lots of respect given to your colleagues. So far, no major cons.

    Advice to Management

Keep Rami as the CEO, Robyn as the CFO, Vince as the EVP of Sales. They are fantastic, real/authentic and I trust what they are telling us and doing to help the company be successful.

    Pros

Good work environment, flexible hours, benefits are okay, work is very challenging. If you are a go-getter, this is the perfect place for you.

    Cons

Profit sharing is lacking, 25% of the employees do 90% of the work. There is very little support, you are basically on your own to figure things out. There are very little growth opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Upper management has done a very poor job of retaining talent because they don't recognize individuals. Treat your engineers better, don't make demands or stress people out because one person cannot do it all.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay scale, great benefits, nice work culture, no micro management.

    Cons

The PLMs for some of the product lines were losing sight of real customers and delivering lower quality or wrong products. Too much marketing, too many people in the management layer not doing any real work and did not understand the business.

    Advice to Management

Hire good quality people, listen to the customers and customer focused engineers, rein in the arrogance of the PLMs

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to share ideas with the upper management. Working in a very focused and effective environment. It's the best place if you want to build great products. Jonathan and Rami are very good leaders.

    Cons

The intermediate size of the company: not really fast as a startup but not robust against market fluctuations as a big company. Should dedicate a larger part of the budget to innovation and new projects for growth.

    Advice to Management

    None
