I have been working at Juniper Networks

    Pros

Quite a bit to learn, decent personal growth.
    Decent 401k plan

    Cons

    - Time off policies need to be stricter as people are exploiting unlimited vacation.
    - Some top level execs appreciate working late hours, on weekends and project such aspects of a team as accomplishments. This is absolutely wrong.
    - Some managers get a long rope and there is no accountability.

I worked at Juniper Networks as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Innovative culture, team-oriented work, great colleagues, supportive environment, weekly lunches with colleagues.
Whether your CS, Desktop Support or etc, gaining experience in computer networking will move you forward quickly in many technical disciplines.

    Cons

    Lacks cultural diversity (technology division)
    No free food

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in an intern training or a buddy program throughout internship (Facebook and eBay have one).

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

People are very passionate and very smart! It makes you feel good for working with people like that. The compensation is one of the best in the valley. They opened the company to new grads pretty recently, and are there's a lot to learn from the experienced people. It's a big enough company where you can take on different projects that interest you as long as your manager allows it, but small enough where you'll be noticed.

    Cons

There are a lot of changes in the past 2 years with the CEO changes, and the hedge fund coming in, which caused the layoffs. As mentioned above, they started hiring new grads very recently but they still need to develop a good program that helps the new grads stay motivated and actually make them stay in the company. The HR is working on it, which is great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure the new grads are kept in the loop, so their retention is high. They're the ones who need to take over the company soon, and if the knowledge can be transferred from the experienced along with incorporated with the new grads' ideas, it can help the company grow!

I have been working at Juniper Networks

    Pros

Competitive Salary, Good Benfits, great people, very exciting work, newer buildings, cafeteria on site

    Cons

Not stable at Exec level - too many CEO changes in the last couple years. Company is re-inventing itself given the market pressure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on some key programs rather than trying to do all

I worked at Juniper Networks as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Juniper should be a real market leader, with significantly flexible scripting. Instead it changes strategic positions before the previous plan can deliver results and blames the driving team for failing to produce.

    Cons

If you want to work in a political snake pit, this is the company for you. Expect to see lots of throwing folks under the bus and upper management failing to support teams that are not 'popular'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your corporate culture is broken. Build teams and reward long term thinking. Try and keep a strategic vision for more than 10 minutes.

I have been working at Juniper Networks

    Pros

Pros: People, Commitment to Excellence, Customer and Partner focus, ability to deliver on promises, marketing and sales as one team, challenger mentality not afraid to 'build the best' and take chances, re-found focus on development and focused products to lead the market in software and cloud and mobility with own silicon development and use of other OEM technology partners. Current CEO is a rock-star and respected by all levels of organization.

    Cons

Time requirements of employees, managers and director and above are high - but normal for leading technology companies in this day and age.
Decision making is improving and re-commitment to values and culture.
Activist investors have had a large say in last nine months, and some necessary workforce reductions and organization decisions, management has taken back control to do what is right in balancing costs and growth and profitability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continuity, stability and focus for growth.
