Pros
Opportunity to work in field that customer asking.
Cons
Competitive. Hard work is given.
Pros
Good people, the location is great, the technology is interesting, the pay is good above average. the facilities are great.
Cons
the process is getting in the way of progress, upper management is mostly engaged in managing up instead of managing their groups
Advice to Senior Management
Stop with the 'home grown' tools, they are clumsy and cost a great deal to maintain. Change the process to enhance products not get in the way. Reward managers who actually manage their groups and product positive results.
Pros
Great benefits, relaxed environment, on the cutting edge of technology so you will always learn the newest things in the market.
Cons
As the company is getting bigger, politics plays big parts.
Pros
I enjoy working with smart people and the potential and outlook of the company is good. Compensation and Benefit is satisfactory.
Cons
some mid management need to do a better job to enable the engineers
Pros
Growing company taking advantage of the mobile revolution, good salary, excellent products, smart people, very good support, engineering culture, fighting the Cisco machine
Cons
infrastructure and internal process needs more investment and updating, internal processes need to be scaled to fit a medium sized company (sometimes it feels like a $4B start-up), engineering culture, everyone is always late for meetings (company culture! - small detail but speaks of respect for others)
Advice to Senior Management
invest in better infrastructure, improve IT, provide mentoring and career path options, continue to hire good people, train middle managers who haven't evolved from start-up mode, more stategic/less tactical, do more to minimize attrition
Pros
The pay is slightly above average, the building is clean and organized, departments are well-staffed, great cafe and gym, state-of-the-art engineering tools (laptop, monitors, telephone, lab...) and flexible working hours.
Cons
Low morale. Lack of promotions - unless already in management. Very poor management model (i.e. "managers" with as few as just one report). Tiny cubicles. Lack of special events as in previous years. Crippling travel restrictions. Expectation of longer hours with no incentive or compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to your people, or at least acknowledge their existence. PAY them what they are worth and don't use the recession as an excuse to keep your talent from being happy and enthusiastic. Though I am discouraged with Kevin Johnson's handling of the "new Juniper", I am pleased he is lucid enough to funnel funds into R&D, which has kept the company growing in the marketplace. This will get us through the recession, but once the economic recovery rebounds, I believe much of the talent will move on.
Pros
Very good knowledge platform.
Peers are extremely helpful.
Management is heloful and understanding.
Work environment is good.
Good work culture.
Cons
Salary package is not that competitive.
Lot of work hours.
Increments are minimal
Appraisals and promotions happen at a slow pace.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work in making Juniper one of the leading networking solutions company.
Good work in coming up with new products and solutions. Thanks to R&D
Please improve the bonus, appraisal and increment structure within the company. Current structure does not give a competitive package overall.
Pros
Company stability in a down market
Cons
Very large company culture. There is little chance to get interesting work assignments, Most everyone is constantly fixing bugs.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of dashboard
Pros
* Great brand name
* Great benefits
* Great work life balance
Cons
* No room for growth for young engineers - everyone here is a senior engineer (40+)
* CA calls all the shots. All exciting work is done outside WF
* Uses old free technologies - C, SVN etc.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
The company tends to grow a lot and quickly. There is always something new and challenging to work on. You are never bored. The benefits are good and the managers I had were always understanding of the need for a work life balance.
Cons
Long hours and a very California centric management view. Folks at Corporate seem to forget that not everyone works in the Pacific time zone. There is very limited room for advancement unless you are in California. Also, management will create very aggressive timelines in acheiving goals and will ignore feedback when it isn't what they want to hear.
Advice to Senior Management
The world is a whole lot bigger than Silicon Valley. As a global company, opportunities for advancement must be available globally. This has caused a lot of talented people to leave and go work for competitors.
