    Pros

Stable work environment Good work culture 4/80 Alternative Work Weeks Flexible vacation scheduling with PTO rollover up to 400 hours Good young professionals organization

    Cons

Opportunity for professional development sometimes limited by training budgets Flat management structure makes opportunity for promotion few and far between Performance reviews highly subjective and handled inconsistently from one manager to another Hard to move around internally from one department to another as it is easy to be blocked by your current manager Slumping Oil prices have negatively impacted business and they have been cutting a lot of jobs lately

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the professional development of your employees. Salaries and benefits somewhat below what the top companies are offering

    Pros

Great place to learn. Always challenging. Management encourages and empowers employees. Coworkers are helpful. Currently going thru refocusing on strategy and divesting unprofitable work.

    Cons

Does not pay bonus for all staff. Only senior manager and above get bonus.

    Pros

4-10 work schedule, top pay and challenging projects.

    Cons

Id like to get PTO and vacation time. All depends on the contract your working on, in plant or projects may vary. Should always include PTO and vacation time on all projects.

I worked at KBR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

9/80 schedule and good health benefits. Managers and supervisors are very involved in the day-to-day work, so they actually know" the weeds" of what they're employees are doing.

    Cons

Little room for upward advancement (fight to get to the top), layoffs abound when projects are sparse

    Advice to Management

Please stop the politics and favoritism! Be fair! Allow all employees to have a fair chance at receiving exposure. Keep working hard to "win" work.

  7. KBR US Construction doesn't have a clue.

I worked at KBR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation and Benefits are great. KBR is willing to pay more than their competition. KBR will have a lot of available positions in the next few years due to older employees going into retirement.

    Cons

KBR U.S. Construction is running their projects into the ground. Upper management in Houston does not have the knowledge to identify competent site management. Upper management hire and promote people that lack intelligence and abilities. Upper management hire and promote people cut from the same cloth.

    Advice to Management

If you can't identify the problem then you are part of the problem.

I worked at KBR full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great pay and long hours, very flexible with different kinds of jobs. Get to see many places because KBR is world wide.

    Cons

Go from job to job and if you are not a craftsman there are no assurances that you will make the next job. Some jobs require traveling but if you are not a craftsman you might not get per diam.

I have been working at KBR full-time

    Pros

    Gain some valuable global experience

    Cons

Do not apply if you're going to be on the compensation team. Turnover was 150% last year and is already the same this year. That should say enough about management. When your vendors are noticing your turnover and constantly having to retrain a new team, that is a problem. Pro would be the 9/80 schedule and free parking but word on the street is that both of those are about to be taken away.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people just to have warm bodies on the floor. Hire people with intelligence and the ability to manage and train a team effectively.

    A blue-chip, top-tier, technically outstanding firm

I worked at KBR full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A firm that generally promotes based on results, however - some good-ole-boys club rules apply. Some of the best talent - technically and commercially lay within the company; embedded in pockets that are not easily seen. With a world-class project portfolio and reputation that is held in high regard; KBR is an employer of choice - now that I have a perspective of an "outsider".

    Cons

KBR has it's share of negative reputation aspects - but what Fortune 500 company doesn't. The biggest flaw is a top-heavy structure that prevents decision making and fact-based choices. Jim Collins in "From Good to Great" had it right - you have to have the right people on the bus; KBR is now paying for that mistake. The old KBR structure made it difficult to leverage one another capabilities and expertise - but again, what firm really exhibits the best collaboration across business streams? The new vision for the corporation looks to leverage that ability.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent. Diversify top-tier management - enable autonomy; balance emotional (gut) decisions with fact-based realistic analytics. The world is changing faster than you can keep up - put the focus in the right area and be true to the world-class, industry-leading core that you're used to. I see KBR having a meteoric rise again.
