    I worked at KEMET full-time

    Pros

Very dedicated people; very global company; balanced global region revenue.

    Cons

Cash Strapped at a time they'd like to complete the acquisition of current Joint Venture NEC TOKIN. Difficulty getting funding when there is a Price Fixing suit ongoing in Japan. Stock under performing.

    Advice to Management

    Close the Florida office.

    Pros

Paychecks come on time, and that's about it.

    Cons

Being ignorant of the company's products and their customers is a badge of honor. Add that to a management that is completely disconnected from reality and you get exceptionally mediocre.

    Advice to Management

Start replacing people. At the top and bottom.

I have been working at KEMET full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work and extremely team oriented company. Encouraged to work across business units.

    Cons

Insufficient resources to complete assigned projects, cash strapped on routine basis, too many dreams and non-focused activities aimed at management reviews.. Poor infrastructure, .especially in IT and business systems. Old antiquated manufacturing equipment.

    Advice to Management

Quit investing in nonperforming companies and invest in your core business units.

I worked at KEMET full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent opportunities to make a difference with customers or suppliers; Chances to grow one's knowledge and experience; General day-to-day treatment by management.

    Cons

Uncertainty of company direction; Exceptionally poor communication from management; Instability of employment.

    Advice to Management

Senior management is completely disconnected from the rest of the company. No one understands if there's a five-year plan, or even a plan at all - and there may not be. Management must spend more time communicating a vision to the rank and file - "being a world-class supplier" is not a plan, and not a complete vision either. Move senior management back to SC, or move it to FL, along with the support groups (Sales, IT, etc.). Local leadership matters!

I worked at KEMET full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great people to work with

    Cons

Management looks out for management, average employee doesn't stand a chance. Constant layoffs. No objective HR group to provide employee protection, HR is controlled by management. The longer you have been there, the more likely you are to get laid off. Managed from Florida instead of the home base in Simpsonville, SC. Senior management is a den of cronies. Not required by law to tell an employee why S/He is being laid off and they don't tell except in generic terms. I know of an employee with over 40 years service that was laid off and management refused to answer the question of why.

    Advice to Management

Replace the CEO with a professional manager ... do the same for the senior management group. Empower employees, in reality, not just with empty words. Discourage insider politics. Value the experience of long time employees. Install a professional third party HR group with direct ties to the Board of Directors rather than senior management.

    Pros

Some good people are still with the company

    Cons

No shared vision; Too many people have been there too long and do what has been done in the past; No one appears to respect the upper management as the decisions made do not appear to warrant it

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the Florida office; New CEO may help in this regard as well as the motivate the limited staff that is currently there
